It has ... moreglass on both sides. On the front, I believe is St. Anthony holding the Christ child in his left arm. In his right hand he holds three branches. On the reverse, a shroud is depicted. Above the shroud is a thorny crown and the the right is a ladder. When I used a flash inside, a face appeared in the middle of the black area at the center of the shroud or drapery. See 3rd photograph. Both sides appear to be painted on glass or some other hard material. The painting of the shroud on the reverse has a crack running down the middle, in addition to the other damage. The piece weighs 3 ounces or 84 grams. Please study the photographs before bidding. Antique Spanish Colonial Santo, 18th Century, Saint Roque
This is a beautiful spanish colonial santo. Most likely from the 18th century. The figure is of carved wood with gesso applied then paint and gold leaf. The statue has the origional finish on it. Part of the clothing design is still present which I tried to capture in the last photo. The base is missing and statue has been displayed hanging from the wall. The approx size is 10 1/2 inches tall by 6 inches wide by 3 inches deep. Another Ebayer has identified this santo as Saint Roque.

EARLY 19th CENTURY SPANISH COLONIAL CARVED WOOD AND POLYCHROME SANTO
Superb colonial santo. Mexican school, early 19th century. This is a Virgin of Guadalupe. Standing on a sliver of moon supported by an angel atop a carved and painted pedestal. She measures 29 inches high, 11 inches wide and 7.5 inches deep. Her condition is very good for her age. A few of the spines around her are missing and there is some age-related weathering to the colors of her raiment, but the piece has been restored and waxed by an expert to preserve it. This santo is authentic. It was bought by an experienced collector and restorer in Mexico in the early 1970s. I inherited it. A beautiful example of a 17th or 18 century Spanish colonial hand carved Saint of Santos figure of Saint Roche measuring 13" tall with base. The condition is amazing considering it could be over 300 years old. The feet and one arm are missing. But this does not distract at all from the overall beauty and character of this wonderful hand carved Santos figure. When I purchased this Santos figure from an art dealer it already had the newer attached base and an older card attached to the back of the figure. The base also has a label describing that the piece was examined by an expert at Sotheby's who dated the figure from the 17th/18th century. SANTOS ~ CARVED WOOD~ POLYCHROME ~ probably SPANISH COLONIAL
HANDCARVED AND PAINTED WOOD STATUE OF A SAINT WITH OLD PATINA. This old hand carved wood statue depicts a saint dressed in robes standing next to a column of stones. Each stone is painted with a depiction of a bug or bird. Not sure of exact origin or age. Appears to be Mexican- 19th century or older. The stones and saint are mounted on a rectangular platform. All are covered with gesso and painted. Due to the age of this sculpture the gesso has a wonderful patina. The condition is very good. No damage to the face, hands or feet. The head has a hole for a halo- the halo is lost. Also the hands have holes for staffs. The current staff is a replacement. Please note minor wear to the paint on the edges of the stones. The height of the statue is 13 1/4 inches. The base is 6 5/8 X 5 inches. No International shipping. Ships only to lower 48 states.

This wood carved figure appears to be that of a shepherd with missing arms and toes depicted of most carvings of this era. The facial features are defined. The figure Is polychromed with wear and loss with time. It has a hole on the bottom of each foot to place on a stand over a nail or dowel. Stand in pictures is not included. Dimensions- 6 1/4" x 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" This is a rare collectible piece of art.
