And relief carving on both sides. One side has a single, large, momma rhinoceros with a tree background. Opposite side has twin baby rhinos and trees. Has a 12 inch diameter, and is about half an inch thick. It weighs just a little over two pounds. This piece looks to be completely hand tooled. Carved from a heavy hard wood. The smooth areas are not completely flat, but have slight rises and dips in the wood. The side with the large rhino has a couple cracks in the wood. Also on this side. The wood has areas of lighter color, as if faded from use, but I have no idea what the intended use is, or was. Maybe purely decorative, or possibly a tray. The opposite ... moreside with 2 little rhinos and tree figures has about a one-inch area where there is a reddish color down in the wood grain- I'm not sure if that's natural. Or a defect. As is to be expected, there are occasional artist glitches. This is a nice. Unusual piece. Overall, very good condition. It's a neat find. Antique/Vintage pair of carved wood wall plaques of dead birds/game. I found these in Ada.OK. The front of these are gold in color. I do not know if they were originally this way or if someone painted them. Very ornate and detailed. The birds are carved in high relief. Both have hangers on back. They have some nicks and paint loss but still very sturdy and heavy. Each measure approx 21.5" tall x 13" wide. Depth of bird relief is approx 1.5" These are so neat! Vintage Carved Walking Stick, Victorian Era, Walnut Park, Relief Carved Leaves
Offered for your consideration is this wonderful carved wood walking stick. Most of it is carved in high relief with leaves and vines. It is in excellent condition with no breaks. It has a wonderful patina that I will not attempt to clean. There is only one very small chip that measures about 1/8" by 1/8" on one of the leaves. Near the handle is a large leaf that reads. Walnut Park" and a"M. T. These are probably the maker's initials and I am not sure which Walnut Park they are talking about, but you collector's might know more. On the handle is some Eastlake type carving. The lady that I bought this from thought it dated to the 1880's or 1890's. It is 35 5/8" long and weighs 7.4 oz. This would make a great addition to your walking stick. Or cane collectibles. Offered at no reserve.

Wooden hand carved pair of pictures, done in raised relief wood carving
These are a beautiful pair of hand carved pictures. With hand made frames. They look very much like they were made in Germany or by a German artist, the style is similar to many wood carvings I have seen from Germany. They are raised relief carvings and look 3 dimensional. I wish the photos showed how beautifully done and detailed they are. The colors are sharp and shaded to compliment the raised relief carving. The first picture is of two men climbing stairs in a what looks like a pub, with a dog is sitting at the bottom of the stairs(probably wondering if they will make it up them! This picture measures 9 and 1/2 inches wide and 8 inches high. The other picture(I think this is my favorite) is of a couple dancing, doing the polka? Maybe I am a romantic at heart but they look so happy even if the man's nose reminds me of Pinocchio's. ... moreThis picture is 7 and 3/4 inches wide and 9 and 1/4 inches tall. I also showed the back of one of the pictures so you can see the frames were made to fit the pictures.
