The the largest one measures about 2" tall. 5" wide, and about 15/16" thick from bottom to the surface of the printing area. One is even depicting a wrecked car. They are in pretty nice condition. Antique Photo Print Block - 1920's/30's - Flapper Era Cutie Kicks Up Her Heel
OVERVIEW: Many years ago I bought a collection of print blocks which had been owned and used by ca. 1920's/early 1930's"muscle magazines" Two magazines in which some of my blocks apparently were used were“The Arena” and“The Arena And Strength” Each is a wooden block with a copper plate attached via tiny nails/brads. Bearing a photographic image of a bodybuilder and/or athlete or of a piece of sports equipment. This auction is for one of those print blocks, described hereinbelow. I'm not sure of the correct name for the printing technique in which these blocks were used. I've seen it referred to as"letterpress" but I'm not sure. Perhaps you know. I find these little guys' and gals’ images to be quite striking. The wood blocks appear to be very hard/dense. I've been told that they may be maple, ... morebut I'm not sure. These are originals- not reproductions. Truly one-of-a-kind images. Terrific for resale. For display, to shadowbox, to stand on a shelf, to inspire the athlete in YOUR life. ITEM DESCRIPTION: Item PB 208: The item being sold in this auction is a copper-faced printing block. Flapper! Young woman kicks up her heel. Just as most women do nowadays in the 21 st century. She’s exercising wearing heeled shoes and what appears to be a dark tank suit. She’d fit right in at Gold’s Gym. No? Hair appears to be marcelled. Never thought I’d get to use that word on eBay… Fairly light image. But details show nicely: See photos accompanying this listing, please. Block measures approx. 3.8" wide and approx. 5.1" tall. Block thickness is approximately.85" NOTES: The metal face of this print block is. Very basically, a photographic negative. I have lightly cleaned& polished the copper using a very soft cloth and Wenol polish. To bring out the image, with my index finger I have very gently rubbed a very, very fine powder onto it. This tile is 6" x 6" in size with an nteresting Gothic block printed design. The animals are probably wolves or some othe mythical creature. The foliage is richly elegant. Excellent block print with sharp edges and just the right amount of ink. There are some ink smears on the right but these are not serious and reflect the hand craftmanship of the process. Produced about 1880 before transfer printing became the preferred printing process. This could be a splendid addition to a collection because the design is strong. Moody, and rare.

Wooden Textile/Border Stamp– Handmade In India These stamps were used for block printing on cloth. Some people have used them to border a room in their house as well. They are handmade with custom designs. I do not believe the wooden stamps are mass produced and are done by hand using teak wood mostly. This particular stamp has a fairly intricate leaf design. Unfortunately it has 93 painted on both sides of the stamp. I believe it can be removed but I will leave that up to the buyer. I have a variety of collectibles. Wooden printing block, measuring 2.25" x 3, depicts a scene of a man being devoured by a wild lion, his ship grounded on the rocks with its mast at an angle, without sails, in the background. The man being attacked appears to be a Sailor given the popularity of shipwreck accounts in the 1700's and 1800's, this might be an illustration from some book on shipwrecks. The image is engraved inside an outer decorative oval, surrounded by an ornate, rectangular frame. The printing surface is in excellent condition, but the block has broken in two from age. This is a pair of original printer's blocks which came from a closed down print shop some years ago. There are two of them. Both for Morris cars.The first measures 41mm x 17mm and has' MORRIS, QUALITY FIRST' and the second is smaller at 33mm x 11.5mm, and has' MORRIS' They are made from lead. Or similar white metal. probably from the 1980's. They are both in very good conditiona nd appear unused. Ideal display item or for printing letter head. The depth of the compartments are 25mm and the tray is divided into three sections and the largest compartment measures 140mm x 60mm whilst the smallest is 27mm x 42mm. Originally paper was placed on the base but after 100 years it is now tatty so I would think best to remove. There is some damage on the top of about 6 dividers and through wear or being knocked they are a wee bit shorter than they were when they started life over 100 years ago. I got this some time ago in Los Angeles. And thought it was interesting it is a"press Block" etching detailed for printing a photo in the paper I have been unsuccessful in determining what it is. It appears to be a construction site of some sort, and has the word Millie"77" in one corner with the date of 7/1951. As I do not have use for it I am selling it. No reserve happy bidding.
