And there is about a million of inches of snow on the ground, in order to take a few pictures of this huge carrier, I took it outside because nothing beats sunlight for showing colors accurately. In other words, I did it for you. This carrier is right out of someone’s smokehouse. And it comes complete with cobwebs, estate dirt, and everything else associated with old, undisturbed, primitive things. It is big! The box part is 25 ½” by 10 ¾” at the top edge. It is 4 ½” deep. The total height to the top of the handle is 6 ½” So we’re talking about a large tote. Weight = 5 ½ lbs. I managed to get two or three pictures before almost freezing to death. And I know who’s to blame. It’s the person who invented the chill factor. I knew it was 3° outside, but my smart phone said it“felt like” 10° below zero. We didn’t have all this“wind-chill factor” horse pucky back when I was a pup. We looked at the thermometer, and if it said it was 3°, we knew to bundle up. I think knowing that“but it feels like” nonsense is too much information. I’m sure you have noticed the old apple-green paint. There are a few more traces of it elsewhere. I’m also sure a good bath will give you some great ideas about how to use it. I meant giving the tote a bath– not taking a bath yourself. I’ve gotta go sit by the stove for a few minutes. The carver who created this work was very well skilled in his or her craft. This piece was probably carved in Switzerland or the Black Forrest Region of Germany.I will lean on the more knowledgable viewers to maybe help with this. The artist might even be well known although this piece is unsigned. The carving depicts a gnome or dwarf supporting a candle holder. It must be heavy for he is straining to keep it up. Notice the strain in his stocky arms and legs. Face is very well done with knitted brows and intense look. Very fine detail ... moreall around on this piece. Notice the texture to his boots and hem on the tunic. The swirls to the powder horn. Even the ground was given time and attention with rocks strewn about. Description CARVED WOOD BIRD Offered for bids is a Primitive Folk Art bird figurine hand carved from a single piece of wood. Posed with body stretched upright and tail fanned. Beak joins with the open work base. Grooved/cut feather lines and light texturing on base. Surface is natural with no varnish or finish. Figurine is approximately 7 3/4" high from base to tips of tail feathers. Light for its size. Weighing just two ounces. From an estate auction- unfortunately I have no history on the piece. Wood type is not known. Color is a medium dark brown with lighter warm brown striations running through it, some of which are slightly raised and textured. Piece is not marked. This pair of pigs was found at an estate sale of a very prominent family in Central Kentucky. They collected many important carved pieces. We were lucky enough to have been able to procure these two. Antique Wood Carving Russian Squirrel Primitive Folk Art 1934 Candle Holder
Wonderful old wood carving of a Russian Squirrel. It looks like it could be a candle holder. It measures 5 1/4 inches tall and the base measures 4 1/2 inches x 3 5/8. It's signed and dated on the bottom by the artist. Robert Patscheider. It was given as a gift to Dick Kohrt in 1934. Kewaunee, Wisconsin. The carving consists of several pieces of wood. One of the squirrel's ears is broken off. It's a lightweight wood.

ANTIQUE MINIATURE CORK WOOD MALLARD DUCK DECOY GLASS EYES ORIGINAL PRIMITIVE
Up for your consideration is a fantastic quality Antique(probably 19thC or early 20thC) Hand Carved Wooden Miniature Duck Decoy. This amazing duck decoy was acquired several years ago along with 15 others from a longtime collector estate. I believe the wood is Balsa or cork as it is lightweight. But hard. There are no signatures, but is very well made and has nice detail. The paint looks like it is original and he has a green head, a white ringed neck, a grey bottom, a black and green beak and red breast. There is a tiny amount of black paint on the tail. A lot of paint has worn. The Antique Carved Wooden Duck Decoy is smaller than most with the body only measuring approx. 6 inches long, 2 3/4 inches wide and body only is 2 inches tall. The head was originally probably glued to the body, but now comes apart, but remains intact. There are ... moreno major chips, cracks or repairs. I believe the duck is a Mallard having a green colored head. The eyes are made out of an amber color with black centers. One eye is smaller than the other and I don't know if this is original or a replacement. If replaced it was probably a long time ago. Both eyes have small scratches. The duck shows some amazing craftsmanship with feathers, shape and design. Probably from the Midwest or East Coast. Odd vintage wood nut cracker. Was found at an estate sale where there were other carved wooden items from Africa. Only they were animals, but same materials and age. A wonderful collection of Primitive Folk Art paintings on antique wooden bannisters of people. The bannisters were cut in half and the artists painted a person to create a wall hanging. I was told that these were done locally years ago. But two have markings or signatures on the reverse"P. Poole/ St. Thomas 1969" The two signed ones appear to be by the same artist and are a little better exectued than the other 4 which are not signed. The signed ones are the first two. The last two appear to be from the same bannister rail. Each measures about 22" to 24" and have a great surface patina. 4 of the 6 have small hooks for hanging. The hook is missing on two of them. They have a wonderful folk art imagery and my guess is that they were all created about the same time in the 1960's. Vintage Folk Art Carved & Painted Grey Pig ~ Primitive Wood Carving
On offer is this carved wooden pig. Painted grey. In a sitting position. With a well-detailed and realistic face. The pig measures approximately 12" high, 14" in length, and 17" diagonally from nose to tip of tail. It is in fairly good condition, with a few tiny spots of paint loss. Also the wood has split a bit along one ear and at the joint of one leg. I'm not sure of the exact vintage of this piece, but it has been in my family for at least 35 years. In another listing. Single Carved Wood Boot Twine Lace Primitive Folk Art Woodenware Shoe
The Carved Wood Boot measures 7" X 3" X 3 1/4" high. A piece of twine serves as the lace. The boot has not been cleaned. It shows rubs and dust. No marks to identify the carver could be found. Vintage Primitive Hand Carved Wood/ Wooden Duck Head
Up for auction is a primitive wooden hand carved duck head. It measures 4 1/2" D x 3 1/2" H x 2 3/4" W. the piece is solid weighing in at approximately 7 ounces. There are two eyes intact but I am not sure if they are glass. The bottom of the duck has a 1/2 hole drilled into it. I was not able to find any other markings. I guess it could be used for several things such as a head for a wooden carved body, a top piece for a cane or even attached to a staircase bannister which would be pretty unique. Antique Primitive German Hand Turned Carved Wood Scene Art Bowl Roemer Set Lot
Hello- This is a set I have collected over time. Each piece is very special. And I wanted to do everything that I could to help people stumble upon this group who may not otherwise be looking for such pieces. The Salad Bowl is part of and included with the Roemers. The Roemer collection is all hand blown. The tallest one on the left measures approx. 7 1/2" w/ 3" base. It is hand blown. There is one tiny chip in the bottom rim of that glass only. The chip is not sharp and won't cut you when touching. It is the same front and back as shown regarding the design as it is clear with no etching. The stem is hollow. And the glass holds 5 oz. The 2nd to the left is decorated with shiny gold similar to Mercury Glass and is highly reflective. It is hand blown and hand etched. It says"Kindsbach" which is a town in Germany. This ... moreglass stands approx. 6" high on 3 1/8" with enclosed base. Holds 6 1/2" oz. of liquid with no chips. The above glass is 3rd on the left. It has hand etched grapes and vines. It stands approx. 6" high on 3" base with hollow stem. It holds 3 oz. of liquid. The above glass is hand blown and etched with"Brixen i. Thale. The glass measures approx. 4" high with 3" bowl on 2 1/2" hollow base. The bowl is hand carved. Appears well used and has one crack. The bowl can still be used for many things, and I have not cleaned it. The bowl measures 17 1/4" across x 5" high- Fork and Spoons measure approx. 18 1/2" long x 2 1/4" wide. The spoon has a baby angle that hadn't been finished yet. The Fork reads: Let him drink and forget his poverty and remember his misery no more. Backside of Fork: The wise man eats to live, the glutton lives to eat. The Spoon reads: Live while you live The epicure would say And seize the pleasures of the present day. This pair of folk art wood rabbits are from a high quality store. They have a lot of character. Each wearing a straw hat and detailed clothing. Mother rabbit has pantaloons under her skirt. Their wooden ears, feet and hands also have detail. Looks like glass eyes. Mother Rabbit is holding a baby made from fabric and is also adorably dressed. This family would make unique Easter décor. I have never displayed them outside. They have been in storage for a long time and have decided to sell them. Each Rabbit retailed for $20.00. They are each signed and dated by the artist.
