Vintage carved wooden Indian bottle or wine safe. It measures approximately 17 inches tall by 6 inches wide and 5 inches deep. Overall very nice condition for age. The colors are bright with minimal paint chipping. The back of the headdress has some wood missing. There is slight irregularity on the base where the insides meet, and the original hinges are missing and will need to be replaced if desired. Please see photos for more information. Antique 19th Century Footed American Native Woven Lidded Reed Basket Alligator
For sale is what I believe an early American possibly native peoples lidded woven footed basket with a carved alligator decoration on walnut panel on its woven lid. The construction appears to be early 19th cent. before 1850 from similar baskets I have seen from native peoples and from this period. I do not have any documentation or provenance concerning these representations. This is an educated guess on my part from dealing with antiques and collectibles for over 40 years. I recall I obtained this piece somewhere along the East coast many years ago. But I do not recall which state. I want to say New England states, Georgia, or Florida, but not sure. The basket with lid measures approximately 5" in length by 3 5/8" wide by 2 1/2" in height.

This is a great old wood carving-not sure of age-but it is old and I believe it to be rare. He is standing on a piece of old barn plank-approx 64 inches tall from bottom of base to top of head dress. Vintage Central American Tribal Native Carved Hardwood Two Faced Janus Figure
This fine figure is a bit of an enigma to me and I would greatly appreciate the help of more knowledgeable Ebayers in pinning down the possible tribal origins of this piece. Originally bought at auction in San Francisco from the estate of a well known California collector of primitive art. Name will be supplied to purchased. If sold for provenance purposes. His notes, attached to the figure when I bought it state" Central America Native Carved Wood Janus Figure(Two Faced) A Good Example of Native Carving' Measures 14" 36 cm in height. In fine condition. Silky smooth patina and great contrast colouring of carved areas in high relief. Appears to be a two faced'Janus' figure. Janus figure' is a common label for figures which have two faces. Reminding some of the two headed Roman deity Janus. Beautiful Hand Carved Wood Native American (?) Bust Signed by the Artist
I found this fantastic piece at a high end antique store in Atlanta. This piece was carved from a solid piece of wood. I'm not an expert but the wood looks almost Ziricote wood from Belize. The detail on this carving is really well done. As you can see in the close up of the necklace. It looks to be a Native American Indian person, but can't be sure. The artist's name is carved into the bottom of the piece as"Avallejos. I tried to find more about the name, and Google says that Vallejos is a common Spanish name, so maybe it's A. Vallejos? Though the name Avallejos Vallejos did come up on Linkedin. I'm not sure the type of wood but it's multi color is amazing. ANTIQUE VINTAGE TRIBAL SOUTH AMERICAN? WOOD CARVED NATIVE MAN PRIMITIVE STATUE I am not an expert on primitive or tribal art and unfortunately I do not know anything about this carving except that it appears to have some age to it. DESCRIPTION Indian/ Native Tribal Man with large ceremonial headpiece. My guess is that it could be South American or perhaps Mexican. It measures 7 inches high x 3 inches wide x 1.5 inches deep The wood in dark(maybe with a stain? and it feels very smooth to the touch. Detailed hair and facial expression. There is a hairline crack in the wood on the back(see photo) But it looks like it was there in the wood when it was carved. It's not spreading. PLEASE VIEW THE PHOTOS- WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET!
