Beautiful and detailed Handiwork Fine Vintage Hand Carved Wood Figure Folk Art- possibly product od Black Forest or Anri(Italian) wood carvers. Man holding rope. Wearing traditional Lederhosen and Tyrollean Feather Cap of the Alps Mountain region. Could be Germany(Bavaria) Austria, Switzerland, or other(see below) Most likely he is a mountain climber or hiker of some sort. 5" High Lederhosen were once widespread among men of the Alpine and surrounding regions, including Bavaria, Austria, the Allgäu and the Italian region of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol(formerly part of Austria until after World War I) But they were not usually worn in southwestern Germany or Switzerland. Tyrol is an area in western Austria and northern Italy. Lederhosen are a characteristic of this region. German Hand Carved Wood Single Light Mountain Climber Oberammergau Make Offer
This is an incredible item for an office. Den, lodge or family room! In 1975, when I was stationed in Germany, I had a master craftsman wood carver in Oberammergau create this outstanding wood carved hanging light for me. The light works great and can be wired directly of through the use of a swag chain. The light has a metal shade with great detail. It took months to finish it but it was worth it. We have to part with it but we have no room. It measure 30" high from the bottom to the surface mount top. The wood carved mountain climber is 13" high. The detail of the wood carved German mountain climber is incredible. It does have a repair on both arms but is almost invisible. See pictures.
