Vintage Dala horse figure and pin These are a great set. One to wear and one to display. The figure measures 4 inches tall. And about 3 3/4 inches head to tail. The pin measures 3/4 of an inch long. And 7/8 of an inch tall. They are both in good condition with no missing paint or chips. The pin on the little one is tilted upwards a bit but still functions as it should. T his is a charming. Vintage. Hand-carved and painted horse figur ine that has been in my family for some years. It has a definite fol k-art feel to it. And it is in excellent condition with no chips, splits, cracks or repairs that I can see. It measures approximately 5-1/2" long by 5-7/8" tall. And because the wood is very light weight I am as suming it is carved from pine. But I cannot be certain of that f act. It appears somewhat lighter in the photos than it is in real life- in person it is more of a medium brown tone and the red and green colors are more mu ted than they appear in the pictures. This would be a darling addition to anyone's folk art or horse collection. I've even had it on my Christmas tree! Grand Wood Carving horses were produced from 1939 to 1983. This one is of the famous Arabian horse. Witez II. Grand Wood Carvings were carved primarily from Mahogany, but in later years other woods were used. This one does appear to be a rich Mahogany. The color and wood grain is very rich. All the information about Grand Wood Carving was found on the Hagen Renaker Horses website under the section of Grand Wood Horses. The site has a wealth of information, and the info I have is from that site. Solid wood model does have a few minor small rubs. One ear tip have been chipped. Originally I thought the just the extended front leg had been repaired(clean breaks with just a big of excess glue below knee and at ankle) but upon further detailed inspection, the other front leg has been repaired as well. The other front leg was clearly not repaired ... moreby the same person. The repairs(there are two) are smooth to the touch in most places and match up perfectly almost as if they were done at the factory. Length of model is about 9" Height is about 7 1/2" I know these horses are extremely hard to find. And cost quite a bit when new. I was lucky enough to find a few of them. The only reason I'm having to sell and list them so low is because of real horse vet bills. Please take advantage of this rare opportunity. I do have a few others listed for sale. ANTIQUE VINTAGE HAND CARVED WOOD HORSE HEAD BUST EQUESTRIAN BARN FOLK ART
A wonderful large hand carved wooden horse head bust. Carved from one piece of wood and attached to the base. Finish is the original paint and is a mustard color with some orange here and there and black eyes. On the left side of the head area you will see a very slight separation which is just part of the aging process. It may have even been there when it was carved. Just wanted to point this out so you know. This piece is in excellent antique condition and is a rarity. It would be a wonderful focal point in any room. VINTAGE PRIMITIVE FOLK ART~ WOOD CARVING~ MEXICAN AZTEC ON HORSE MULE This is a very unique peice of art that depicts an ancient warrior on his horse or mule! At a little under 9 inches tall. Its regal pose speaks volumes to the eye of the beholder! There is some varnish that seems to be settled on the top of this structure.I didn't try to clean it off for fear of harming this wonderous peice. I don't refurbish.
