A wonderful large hand carved wooden horse head bust. Carved from one piece of wood and attached to the base. Finish is the original paint and is a mustard color with some orange here and there and black eyes. On the left side of the head area you will see a very slight separation which is just part of the aging process. It may have even been there when it was carved. Just wanted to point this out so you know. This piece is in excellent antique condition and is a rarity. It would be a wonderful focal point in any room. Hand carved Folk Art wood wooden horse head shoe statue figurine sculpture
This is for a beautiful hand carved Folk Art Horse Head surrounded by a Horseshoe. There is an original old hanger that you can attach to the wall or it displays nicely on a desk/table. There is a brass inscription on the front lip that reads; CLOUD. BY LEONARD CASS. This carving was found in rural West Central Wisconsin. When I googled the closest town and this name, his birth date was 1888. He passed around 1970. So, my guess is that this was carved 1910-1950's. The hanger indicates some age as well as the fact that there are dowels and not nails holding it together. Interesting, on the back, it is marked; Doc Lar had this" The dimensions are about 9 x 9 inches. It is solid and weighs about 2 pounds 11 ounces. I have yet to find one like this online.anywhere! It is in perfect condition and beautiful. It appears to be walnut. But I cannot say for sure. I saw something similar in mango wood? Smoke free environment and super fast shipping!
