Hand Carved Black Forest Walking Bear Signed With Glass Eyes
At auction from my personal collection is a great hand carved Black Forest Bear. Bear measures 6.5 inches long. 2 inches in width an 3.5 inches in height. A smaller version of the walking bear this one is exceptionally well done. From carved teeth to protruding tongue to th e tuft of fur under the jaw to the shading of the fur as the coloration goes from brown to tinges of black the carver got all the details right. Overall condition is excellent with no loss or damage. Glass eyes. Signed V I under the front paw. Hard to find a nicer example of a bear in this or any size. Thanks for looking

Antique walking stick handle of carved dog with glass eyes and a mechanical mouth which I believe is meant to be a glove holder. The base of the neck is 12 mm in diameter. It has wear to his ears. His right ear has wear and what appears to be a chip out of the front flap. His left ear has wear as well and what appears to be a chip out of the back flap of the ear. The inside of his mouth has been painted red. I am by no means a walking stick handle expert, so please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Up for your consideration is a fantastic quality Antique(probably 19thC or early 20thC) Hand Carved Wooden Miniature Duck Decoy. This amazing duck decoy was acquired several years ago along with 15 others from a longtime collector estate. I believe the wood is Balsa or cork as it is lightweight. But hard. There are no signatures, but is very well made and has nice detail. The paint looks like it is original and he has a green head, a white ringed neck, a grey bottom, a black and green beak and red breast. There is a tiny amount of black paint on the tail. A lot of paint has worn. The Antique Carved Wooden Duck Decoy is smaller than most with the body only measuring approx. 6 inches long, 2 3/4 inches wide and body only is 2 inches tall. The head was originally probably glued to the body, but now comes apart, but remains intact. There are ... moreno major chips, cracks or repairs. I believe the duck is a Mallard having a green colored head. The eyes are made out of an amber color with black centers. One eye is smaller than the other and I don't know if this is original or a replacement. If replaced it was probably a long time ago. Both eyes have small scratches. The duck shows some amazing craftsmanship with feathers, shape and design. Probably from the Midwest or East Coast. This pair of Black Forest salts in the form of carved bears with glass eyes. Likely dating back to the early 1900s, came from an Estate Sale in Tryon, North Carolina 2 weeks ago. Both are in VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT condition in my opinion. VERY minor splitting of the wood in a couple of places and some really small nicks on the feet on the walking bear, the sitting bear is in really great shape. Antique Vtg Carved Wood Monkey Ape w Glass Eyes Japanese Netsuke Okimono
This is a great little monkey with very detailed carving in very good condition. He has a surprised expression on his face& his fur is very nicely depicted. He is seated. Eating what could be a banana or other fruit and his tail is wrapped around his legs on one side. His eyes appear to be white glass with a black pupil. The wood has a very nice patina. He stands about 3 5/16" tall. There is a little dark spot on the inside of his left leg- not sure if that's a knot in the wood or something else. There is a drilled 8mm hole between his tail and his leg. You can see that a cord could go between that hole& the opening of his arms. We are unclear on his age. He's really a charming fellow! Antique Hand Carved Wooden Articulated Santos w/ Polychrome Paint & Glass Eyes
I think rare is often over-used on ebay. But it is indeed rare for a figure like this to have survived a non-museum environment intact! Hand carved from wood, glass eyes, articulated knees, thighs, elbows and sholders, this is an amazing piece of old-time craftsmanship. I feel comfortable dating this no later than the early 1800's, possibly 1700's. Very nice expression, has alot of wear to polychrome paint(see photos) Does have some worm holes, but is not chipped or cracked. Feet are clad with old leather glued on bottom(probably had sandal straps on top at some point) He measures 20" tall. Clothing is tattered. Probably is not original- looks more Victorian era. Not sure of origin, people I bought it from travelled extensively and shopped at antique stores and markets. I'm offering a beautifully detailed oriental Asian themed wood sculpture featuring 2 koi fish swimming swirling in carved waves and flowers. I don't know woods but this has a reddish hue. Maybe rosewood or cherry wood? The fish are very detailed right down to their scales and whiskers. They seem to have glass eyes. Sculpture stands 12 1/2" high, base is 5" wide. The#24 is engraved on top but no other markings that I can see. The base has a crack(under flower about 5 1/2" high) and a chip on the bottom left side(please see photos) This isn't too noticeable and doesn't effect the beauty of the piece. VOILA. an unseen repair makes ... morethe lion as good as when it was first carved. i only wanted to leave him as i found him. thats what i do on most things. he has a wonderful carved mouth. 4 nails make the teeth. he has his original whiskers. i think the mane is real hair as well. but it might not be. glass eyes in the head. This one is wonderful. and quite ancient. a must for the animal collection NOTE on his chest and between the front legs you can see a bit of wood and 2 old nails. i think a bit of fur is missing from this spot and only from this spot. leo comes from a great old estate auction i attended in indianapolis last week. i got a deal on him. I found these at a thrift store. I thought they were so cute and different that someone might enjoy them. I don't see any makers marks but there is one I saw on ebay that looks like it is from the same set that is marked Germany. They look like they were part of a desk set. The heads move and come off. See 10th pic. The larger piece is 11 1/2" by 8" the smaller one is 9" by 4" There is what looks like ink stain in one of the round wells. There is a split in the wood of the large piece, see 9th pic.
