Offered for sale is this beautiful hand carved and painted wood deer. The deer has glass eyes. The carving is in excellent condition except with 2 antlers' tip chipped off. It has a mark on the bottom. But I can make it out. Don't know the age and origin, I believe it was either from Germany or Switzerland. It measures 6"H x 3-1/4"W x 1-7/8"Depth. Carved Wood BLACK FOREST STAG Deer German or Swiss Figure
Vintage stag carving. This is a very nice wood carved stag that has been intricately carved by a skilled German or Swiss woodcarver. The base measures 14-1/2' wide by 4-1/4' deep and to the highest point of the antlers it stands 13' tall. It is in very good condition but with an age crack on the side of the wooded brush. By the front hoof(see last photo) but this does not detract. This is a great black forest carving and makes a wonderful display in a den or office. Q uestions welcome and thanks for the interest! Depicts a shoemaker with hammer in hand making a boot and his cat popping out of the boot beside him. Adorable. Wonderful carved details in the faces and nice paint work. This figurine has the original label on the base and is also stamped as shown. The figurine measures approx. 5 3/4" in H. 3 1/2" in W. and 3 1/2" in Depth. It was typed/ labeled by my aunt" Tyrolean Dancers from Switzerland" there is a pencil mark above it the label, approx 4 1/2" tall, unfortunately- I have no other information about their age other than when purchased after the war.
