Handcarved, working, 8 day cuckoo clock that was created for the"Welby Corporation" in the Black Forest of"Triberg, Germany" about 75 years ago and signed on the movement by"Hubert Herr, one of the finest clockmakers in history! The clock is simply astonishing, shows little if any wear, and one of the finest I’ve ever seen. Frankly. Were it not for the cause listed below, this exquisite clock would remain in our home; no doubt about it. According to Reinhard Herr(Hubert's Grandson) This clock is made of cured and aged Linden wood that is grown nearly exclusively at certain altitudes of the Black Forest. The case is quite large and adorned with four, large, hand carved wooden grape leaves on the front that are exceptional, deep, intricate, and wavy. Another is found on the wooden pendulum. There is a large. Carved wooden bird near the bottom sitting on a fir branch and a beautifully-detailed, equally impressive, carved, very large wooden bird at the very top of the clock looking as though he's ready to take flight. The top is a separate piece and is secured with the old hook and eye system no longer used. The detail is extraordinary and the case if finished in gorgeous deep mahogany; very nice! The wooden dial has a black backdrop and features raised white Roman numerals to mark the hours and fancy matching hands to point out the time. There are hinged wooden access doors on either side of the case secured with a metal hasp on each. They open easily to allow access for any adjustments that may be needed for the cuckoo mechanisms. Unusual antique carved wood German barometer/thermometer/hygrometer. The piece has"B. Straub" carved on the front and lettering is all in German. I've not seen one that has the hygrometer included. Rather unique. The glass covering the hygrometer needs to be cleaned however. The thermometer section is porcelain with no chips or cracks. The barometer section is also in nice condition with no chips or cracks in the glass. The carving well done in a Black Forest German style.The back side has tin covering the thermometer and barometer sections. It measures 16 1/4" by 6 3/4" approximately. This is an old hand carved German nutcracker in excellent condition with no cracks. Splits etc. I have no idea exactly how old it is but it has been at my house for at least 25 years. It's very nicely carved, all wood, even down to the dowel that allows the jaw to close and crack the nut. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ONE IN THIS NICE CONDITION! Offered for sale is this vintage hand carved wood leaf shaped fruit plate. Don't know the age and origin but I would guess this is a German Black Forest piece. I refinished it by sanding and painting. now it is ready to use. The carving is beautiful and detailed It is in excellent condition with no damage. It measures 13-1/4" x 10-1/2" x 2"H. The plate is very thin but sturdy. No marking.

Offered for sale is this exquisite German Black Forest wood carving"Squirrel on tree trunk" The squirrel is grabbing a little animal on its left front claws and the right front claws are grabbing the trunk. The tree trunk is surrounding by some leaves. Tree fern and rocks. The piece has one or two leaves damage and some old worm bites, overall it is in excellent condition for age. No signature and the exact age unknown, probably 1900's or so. The trunk is hollow on top, it size about 2-1/2"in depth. x 2-3/4"in diameter. It can hold a candle inside but this is too good to be a candle holder. The piece measures 6-3/4"H x 7-1/2"W x 6"Deep. The piece is heavy nice wood. Vintage German Black Forest Hand Carved Beer Barrel Wagon 4 Horses Haufbrau
This listing is for a wonderful Haufbrau Beer Barrel Horse Drawn Wagon with 4-Horses! This is a Large Wooden Carving measuring about 25" Long and 9" tall at its tallest points. The Horses are carved with detail and the driver has a whip. And Cigar! He Swivels up there on his seat. There are 11 Barrels! His side brake is there too! There are a couple of spots where the chains should be repaired! It shows in the photos where 1-beer barrel needs to be reattached. Near the 2-rear horses. The harness Chains need to be re-attached. For the most part The chains are still there. One of the rear wooden pieces to attach the chains is missing. I will let the buyer make these minor repairs. It is also a bit dusty. This auction is for a vintage manger. It came with the 5" ANRI set I have listed. It would probably work for a 5" or 6" set. It is carved wood and looks more black forest to me than ANRI. But I'm not sure. It measures 19.5" tall to the top of the tree by 16" wide by 9" deep. The manger original came with one tree. The tall tree to the left has a dowel on the bottom that fits into a hole on the base. The other three matching trees may have been designed to stand on the table behind the manger, but the past owner used florist's gum to stick them to the base in front of the manger. Depending on how you want to display it, you may need to clean it off. The gum may leave some residue on the wood. This set was purchased from the estate of a catholic priest. This antique hand carved wall plaque It is carved in total relief from a single piece of wood except the hands.These antique Black Forest pieces are hard to find- especially in this massive size. The intricate carving depicts a man holding his hands out. The realistic carving and attention to detail give this piece a commanding presence. The plaque has it's original finish which is worn here and there down to the natural wood underneath. This provides a nice contrast with the natural wood and the antique finish. The overall condition of this carving is excellent- it has a small repair on the left hand. But you hardly notice it. Carved Black Forest Bear Hall Tree Stand Old 89 Inches Tall German Swiss
Free shipping in the lower 48 states. Up for bids is a vintage carved wood bear tree hall stand. I am not sure of the exact age but mid 20th century. It has typical cracking from the wood drying out over the years. It stands a whopping 89 inches. I believe it is probably Swiss in origin. The carving on the bears is very good. If it ever had a metal tray I do not have it. There is what appears to be glue in one of the cracks. It is very solid and was never broken, but its there. Vintage German Black Forest Wood Carving - Spainiard?
This German carving is full of character! The representative culture is difficult to determine; my best guess is Spain. It is hand carved from what appears to be a single piece of wood. The piece has an intriguing natural wood grain. The wood is solid and a heavy 3 lbs. He stands 17" tall and has a width-wise 7" base. There is a"natural appearing" cross-grain wood crack on the base. Behind his right foot(see images) The lantern is intact. The long handled axe appears to have bee taped in its center, to repair a crack or separation. It is a good repair job and the handle is firm. There are s few surface scrapes, which to not affect the integrity of the wood and can be easily removed(see images of back side cape"nape of neck" and left calf" There are not any dings or broken off wood pieces. There is not any ... moreother damage to note. As many of the items I make available are"dated" They are rarely in perfect condition. My claim is to have inspected the item to the best of my ability and note anything I find. Occasionally, a better trained eye can spot things I have missed. Vintage Carved Wood Figure "Pot Belly Man" German ? Black Forest
Offered for eBay is a vintage wood carved figure of an older pot belly man standing with his hands in his pockets. There are no marks as to maker or artist. I do not know exact age. But it is not new or recently made. The figure stands 8.25" high including base. Base measures approx. 2" X 3" There is one area on the man's right side under his hand that appears to be a natural crack/separation in the wood, along the carved lines(please see included photo of area) I can see no damage other than dust in the crevices. The wood is lighter in color than some of these figures that I have seen. All items are from a clean non smoking home. But. We do have a dog. T hose with allergies should be aware. Items are not new. Great looking and signed Alfred O. Zwink hand craved German. Black Forest bookends of a man and woman figure. Zwink taught at Holzbildhauerei School in Oberammergau, Germany. These were carved in the 1940's to the 1950's I believe. They are in great condition with some slight rubbing to the finish but it is minor. Both are signed on the bottom with a stamp on the felt. The bookends are quite large for your big tomes and are super sturdy. The largest male figure stands 8 1/4" tall by 7" wide by 4" deep. Excellent vintage condition. Large Antique Late 19thC German Black Forest Carved Wooden Bear Statue
Up for bids is this Large Antique Late 19thC German Black Forest Carved Wooden Bear Statue. This Black Forest bear was carved in Germany during the late 19thC. The bear is finely carved from wood and has a polychrome painted mouth with glass eyes. The bear is standing upright and is growling with his paws up. This piece would originally have been on a piece of furniture such as a hall tree but the dowel could be removed and it should be attached to a base because it does not stand freely. This piece stands 10 3/4" in height. 4 3/4" in width, and is 5 3/4" in depth. This piece is in great condition with just a small piece missing to one of the bears paws.
