Solid wood carving measures 8 3/4 inches across and 7 1/2 inches from top to bottom. It is about 3 1/4 inches thick. From back to front of face. It weighs almost 1 1/2 lbs. This is a most stunning and quite superb carved gothic wooden walnut heraldic panel with the relief carving of the winged cherubs. Gargoyles, scottish thistles, shell and other intricate carvings of which: During our research we have been informed it dates from the gothic period of the 18th century and is of scottish origin. Dates about c1780. Text to the top and at the base. Remember true to the end" to the top with to the base: Home of Welderburne. Welderburne and the heraldic logo relate to the scottish castle of the same area. Dates certainly from the 18th century. Certainly a quite superb relief carved wooden panel with: The heraldic emblem to the top with the eagles and unicorn with the central shield. To the sides. Top and bottom, the winged cherubs sitting on the leaves. Four winged gargoyles. To the base. The shell carving with ... moretwo more winged cherub carvings. Also two horses with the trumpet vase bodies with the side decoration rising from. Centrally a frame with scottish thistles. Roses and leaf carvings. Carved in relief. Which I believe reads, Painted Shrine Back Panel Cir. 1730-50 Fine Example of its Kind. The notation was obviously written later. This gothic panel depicts the Virgin Mary with Baby Jesus and protected by winged griffins or stylized eagles on either side. The detail is exquisite. The panel measures 24" tall x 31" wide and 2 1/8" deep. It was painted a satin black(Jacobean finish) on the front. Back remains unpainted. The panel does show some wear around the edges where the wood has worn and there are a couple of small repairs where wood was re-attached. Two hand carved Gothic wooden lantern sconces with lanterns
I have hand carved these two Gothic style lantern holders. I bought the lanterns off of amazon and thought up the design for the holders. They are all original design and the only two like it. Because they are hand carved. The two differ slightly but mostly unnoticeable. I caved the holders out of poplar wood and stained dark. I am selling them to fund new projects I am working on. The faces are a demonic design. There are flat perches for the option to place thicker style candles.

For your consideration. An antique Black Forest carved wood antler hat rack in a rare gothic grotesque form, circa 19th century Germany. The rack is in good vintage condition with no major cracks, chips, or wear to the face. A shallow crack runs along the back of the wood originating from a knot in the wood grain. The antler is attached via a large screw. The antler does pivot about 1/2 an inch on the screw but IS STABLE. The antler end on the right does rest against the wall and the wooden piece sits slightly raised as a result, the rack was likely made to originally be hung on a large post.
