Listing now is a marvelous hand carving from Oberammergau. Germany. The carving measures approximately 6 inches tall and 2.2 inches wide. This little boy has brown, wavy hair and is wearing blue jean overalls with a painted red, white, and blue shirt. He is dragging a small wagon with a teddy bear in it. There a few places on the piece where the paint is chipping off, but its otherwise in GREAT shape. I am not sure of the wood used in the piece or what kind of paint was used. I also do not know the age of the piece, but it has been sitting in a cabinet of a family member's for as long as I can remember. The bottom of the piece has a stamp that is hard to decipher but Anton Fischer and Oberammergau are what appears to be legible. Please use your own knowledge when bidding. Anton Fischer Oberammergau Carved Wood Girl w/Gifts-Boy w/Flute Figurines 3"
Anton Fischer began carving when he was 14 and had his own shop by 1949. This shop was located in Oberammergau Bavaria which is a worldwide center for carvers that attracts students from around the world. By the 1960's. Mr. Fischer had eight apprentices as well as his daughter working for him. These two figurines are a very nice representation of his work. They are both approximately 3” tall and the bases are approximately 1” in diameter. Only one of the figurines has his well known“ANTON FISCHER” stamp on the bottom.

Each one sits flat or can be hung on a wall. The man does have a small chip on the side of his nose. No other known defects. The man measures 7" long x 10 1/2" high x 4 1/2" wide. Oberammergau and there are other markings/numbers that I cannot make out. Note: This Anton Fischer. Famous wood carver from Oberammergau is not the same person as Anton Otto Fischer who made maritime illustrations. This beautiful Angel with Candle figure measures 3 3/4 inches tall and 2 1/8 inches in diameter around the base.
