This listing is for a very detailed. Well carved antique wooden Black Forest spill vase from Switzerland. it features two stags beneath a tree. It measures 9.6" tall, and roughly 5.8" across the base. It was used as a spill, as there is no wax residue, and the top edge shows darkness from smoke. Vintage stag carving. This is a very nice wood carved stag that has been intricately carved by a skilled German or Swiss woodcarver. The base measures 14-1/2' wide by 4-1/4' deep and to the highest point of the antlers it stands 13' tall. It is in very good condition but with an age crack on the side of the wooded brush. Antique Intricate Hand Carved Swiss Black Forest Wood Owl Sculpture
This is a wonderful deep brown to black walnut owl statue or Figural finial. Hand carved from a single piece of wood. It is beautifully aged with a natural sheen and incredibly smooth surface. There's some dullness at the back of his head and a very fine line which through a loupe appears to be a part of the wood. He also has a crack across each leg that does not go all the way around, and appears to have been done intentionally in the carving. He measures 5" tall and about 2 1/2" wide with a 1 3/4" base. Up for auction is a stunning antique wood statue. It is of the Lion of Lucerne. It is a really well done piece. The detail and patina to the wood is just amazing. It measures 5" wide x 2 1/4" deep x 2" tall. The shield needs to be reattached. It is in otherwise very nice condition. Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE This is pair of a really nice Carved Wooden Black Forest Bear Whip Hooks. Represented by a walking bears on a rocky outcrops and chamois horns below for hanging“whips” I don’t believe these hooks are entirely old. The bears clearly are old(somewhere from the early 1900s) But the rocky outcrops with chamois horns appear not to be and were probably created in an effort to give the 2 bears something to do(rather than just sitting them on a table top, turn them into hooks! The bears have friendly faces, are in good condition, rich highlight colors, no missing ears or feet, nice glass eyes, and real chamois horns(no splits or broken tips) A few condition issues to note: the right nostril on the left facing bear is a bit worn(see pic) the left ear of the right facing bear has a chip; I can see evidence ... moreof reglues on a couple of feet; and there is a slight color difference between the bears(being old) and the bases(being not as old) But all-in-all, in spite of this old/new merger, they are really cool and very functional– they hung my house for years holding dog leashes. And if you don't like them as hooks, take off the bears! THIS AUCTION IS FOR BOTH. Up For Sale! A wonderful antique Swiss Carved Black Forest Bear Inkwell. The Black Forest carved items for the most part were all carved in Switzerland in the area around Brienze. In 1868 there were over 2000 woodcarvers in Switzerland. This is a bear sitting on a tree stump. Standing 7/3/4 inches tall the bear has very tiny black glass eyes. The bears arm is set so as to be able to hold a writing instrument. See Picture-The bear head pen IS NOT INCLUDED and is being sold seperately) By tilting the bear backward. The tree stump opens up to reveal the white porcelain ink pot which is original to this piece. The pot is not removable so please do not try to remove it or it may break. At the base it measures 5" wide. The bear itself is 3 1/4 inches tall. There is an age crack across the nose of the bear(see Picture) but only apparent with ... morevery up close inspection. I find no other flaws. This piece has been in my collection for over 30 years and is one of the nicest I have seen. It will make a wonderfull addition to anyone's collection. Stunning Antique Swiss Carved Black Forest Bear Desk Set MUST SEE!
Up For Auction! A stunning two tone wood Black Forest figural bear desk set! I have had a number of these but they have always been one color. This one is stunning with the different colors of wood. The highly detailed bear has tiny black glass eyes and his mouth has been painted red. The kiebe on his back can hold paper clips. The center tree stump is done in two colors and contains the inkwell. Note the top of the stump is done in light wood. While the opening for the inkwell is further down the stump. Unfortunately this did not have the ink pot when I acquired this 25 years ago. The right tree stump can hold other small items. The wooden pencil the bear is holding is hand carved and original to the set. It does not contain lead. The bear letter opener is wonderful and completes this set. There is a small area missing on the lower edge ... moreof the blade as can be seen in the picture. It measures 3.5cm long but does not detract from the beauty of this piece. This wonderful desk set comes from my non-smoking home and will make a wonderful addition to anyone's collection. Payment to be made through Pay Pal. Antique Swiss Carved Black Forest Bear Jewelry Box
Up For Auction! An unusual Black Forest figural bear Jewelry Box. This lovely box strays from the heavier theme of Black Forest carved items as though it was specifically made for a ladies dressing table to be used for jewelry. The box does have a lock mechanism and although I have owned this for over thirty years. I acquired it without a key. The bear measures 4 inches long. The overall length of the box is 7 inches by 4 inches deep by 5 inches high. Please note the pictures of the screw heads used to put the bottom and legs together. The screw heads are only 2cm wide. There are no nails used! The hand engraved tulip motif adorns the top and front of the box while a floral leaf is engraved on the end panels. Even the back of the box features two engraved star bursts. The inside compartments contain the original blue velvet material and the ... morebottoms of the two top compartments are padded. All in all a nice departure from the traditionally heavy Black Forest items. This will make a nice piece for M'ladies dressing table. This item comes from my non-smoking home. His fur is finely outlined. As is the fur in his tail. The barrel around his neck is held up by carved straps and he also has a blanket strapped to his back. He is obviously carved to look like a rescue dog. He stands on a small platform that is 2/3" tall. The total height is 4 1/2" It is 2" wide and 6" deep(long) He is carved from lindenwood and stained a rich walnut brown. He is in excellent condition. The wood has a rich deep patina. Black Forest Swiss or German Carved inkwell The original glass insert is still intact with a few chips around the top. This inkwell has a hinged top and the original yellow glass eyes. There is some damage to the ears that is shown in the pictures. Im unable to determine if the holes were there when it was carved or not.
