The carver who created this work was very well skilled in his or her craft. This piece was probably carved in Switzerland or the Black Forrest Region of Germany.I will lean on the more knowledgable viewers to maybe help with this. The artist might even be well known although this piece is unsigned. The carving depicts a gnome or dwarf supporting a candle holder. It must be heavy for he is straining to keep it up. Notice the strain in his stocky arms and legs. Face is very well done with knitted brows and intense look. Very fine detail ... moreall around on this piece. Notice the texture to his boots and hem on the tunic. The swirls to the powder horn. Even the ground was given time and attention with rocks strewn about. Wonderful old wood carving of a Russian Squirrel. It looks like it could be a candle holder. It measures 5 1/4 inches tall and the base measures 4 1/2 inches x 3 5/8. It's signed and dated on the bottom by the artist. Robert Patscheider. It was given as a gift to Dick Kohrt in 1934. Kewaunee, Wisconsin. The carving consists of several pieces of wood. One of the squirrel's ears is broken off. It's a lightweight wood.

Up for your consideration is a fantastic quality Antique(probably 19thC or early 20thC) Hand Carved Wooden Miniature Duck Decoy. This amazing duck decoy was acquired several years ago along with 15 others from a longtime collector estate. I believe the wood is Balsa or cork as it is lightweight. But hard. There are no signatures, but is very well made and has nice detail. The paint looks like it is original and he has a green head, a white ringed neck, a grey bottom, a black and green beak and red breast. There is a tiny amount of black paint on the tail. A lot of paint has worn. The Antique Carved Wooden Duck Decoy is smaller than most with the body only measuring approx. 6 inches long, 2 3/4 inches wide and body only is 2 inches tall. The head was originally probably glued to the body, but now comes apart, but remains intact. There are ... moreno major chips, cracks or repairs. I believe the duck is a Mallard having a green colored head. The eyes are made out of an amber color with black centers. One eye is smaller than the other and I don't know if this is original or a replacement. If replaced it was probably a long time ago. Both eyes have small scratches. The duck shows some amazing craftsmanship with feathers, shape and design. Probably from the Midwest or East Coast. Offered is a Set of Two Vintage Hand Carved Wooden Folk Art Musicians. Each player measures approx. 16” tall. And the base is approx. 4 5/8” in diameter. Both are in good vintage condition with no cracks or broken components. The left ear on each player is very small. Especially the trumpet player. It appeared at first that the ears were broken off, but close examination shows that they are stained with the same finish as the rest of the bodies. The reason for the small ears is unknown. Maybe it’s a hidden message or trademark signature by the artist? The top clear coat glaze is very shiny in some areas and nearly matte in others. There are craftsman’s tool marks visible on each figure. Consistent with that of true hand crafted and hand finished wares. There is some fading to the gold accents on the cello. I was told that these were done locally years ago. But two have markings or signatures on the reverse"P. Poole/ St. Thomas 1969" The two signed ones appear to be by the same artist and are a little better exectued than the other 4 which are not signed. The signed ones are the first two. The last two appear to be from the same bannister rail. Each measures about 22" to 24" and have a great surface patina. 4 of the 6 have small hooks for hanging. The hook is missing on two of them. They have a wonderful folk art imagery and my guess is that they were all created about the same time in the 1960's. And I wanted to do everything that I could to help people stumble upon this group who may not otherwise be looking for such pieces. The Salad Bowl is part of and included with the Roemers. The Roemer collection is all hand blown. The tallest one on the left measures approx. 7 1/2" w/ 3" base. It is hand blown. There is one tiny chip in the bottom rim of that glass only. The chip is not sharp and won't cut you when touching. It is the same front and back as shown regarding the design as it is clear with no etching. The stem is hollow. And the glass holds 5 oz. The 2nd to the left is decorated with shiny gold similar to Mercury Glass and is highly reflective. It is hand blown and hand etched. It says"Kindsbach" which is a town in Germany. This ... moreglass stands approx. 6" high on 3 1/8" with enclosed base. Holds 6 1/2" oz. of liquid with no chips. The above glass is 3rd on the left. It has hand etched grapes and vines. It stands approx. 6" high on 3" base with hollow stem. It holds 3 oz. of liquid. The above glass is hand blown and etched with"Brixen i. Thale. The glass measures approx. 4" high with 3" bowl on 2 1/2" hollow base. The bowl is hand carved. Appears well used and has one crack. The bowl can still be used for many things, and I have not cleaned it. The bowl measures 17 1/4" across x 5" high- Fork and Spoons measure approx. 18 1/2" long x 2 1/4" wide. The spoon has a baby angle that hadn't been finished yet. The Fork reads: Let him drink and forget his poverty and remember his misery no more. It does appear to have good age and patina, the wood appears to be raw and never stained or varnished Size: measures 16 inches from heat to tail and over 10 inches high at the cat’s hind legs Condition: In overall wonderful condition with no major damage that we can note. This piece appears quite old and probably dates to at least the early 19th century if not earlier. It is about 8-1/2" long and about 6-1/2" tall to the horn. The bull is painted bright red with black dots and has a primitive face. It has attached ears that I think are painted rawhide and black horns. One of the horns is missing its tip and the other appears to have been repaired. There is some white paint on one shoulder and I cannot tell if it is original and intended or not. The bull has letters painted on the rump. A clearly defined M on one side and TN on the other side. It's a wonderful primitive wood carving for your collection. Rare Antique Primitive Wood Carved Polychrome Depiction Of Madonna & Child
This auction is for a primitive wood carved hand painted polychrome figure of Madonna& child. Looking at the pictures shows the true age of this beauty that had been buried in a local estates attic. Some of the paint has been chipped due to just the age alone Madonna is holding a bible open with a little boy kneeing at her feet. Both appear to be holding something together with their other hands but I cannot make out what it is. Antique Wood Hat Mold Vintage Wooden Hat Form Folk Art Primitive Shabby Chic
This is a great old lot of 3 different hat making molds. That's right you get all three. From the 1880s. Plus or minus a few years. Either way they are real, and they are real old. Around 135 years. One is 12 3/4" long x 10 1/2" wide x 2" tall. This is the one with the split and is lighter colored. In Colorado the air is dry. And(perfectly good) wood splits after years in our dry climate. BUT, the piece is very sturdy. With a push from both sides of the split, the gap doesn't budge. This wood is like iron. One is 13" long x 11 1/2" wide x 2 1/4" tall. The larger darker mold. This one is signed(PACO) on the rim. It is in great well used shape. Rough spots, smudges, hairlines, etc. everything that you would want to see in a real, old, piece. One is the solid 7 1/2" long x 6 1/2" wide x 6" ... moretall center piece. It is in great well used shape. Rough spots. But I bought these along with two old duck decoys from an estate with many rare antiques and thought they might have some value. the red bird measures 6.25" long and 3.5" high. The black measures 6" long and 4.25" high. They look to be in original condition. Smaller red brown bird's tail is chipped-that one is signed on the bottom"BROWN TOWEE" may have meant"Towhee" Not sure what kind of bird the black one is.
