Antique Carved Walnut Wood Panel Architectural Salvage Organ Piano Music Holder
As the title indicates. This is a heavy, neat old organ or piano top with its original music book holder. It's ready for a"new life" or a piano/organ searching for a panel. Please review all the photos. As above mentioned, this has several mends, some of which could have been done with a little more skill so the new owner may want to sand to refine the finished look or soften the glue and then re-glue. The round sculpted/scalloped music holder has a tray just below it which has a mend on each side, the forefront of the piece also has two mends(this is a piece which is set/attached to the main body of the piece) and can be removed as it is attached with tiny nails which look as if they will be easily removed. This is an outstanding carving with all with complete signature. Date and title, carved at the front bottom. It was carved by Juan Martinez in 1869. He used the letter V instead of the U. The carving is of the Virgin San Pisma of San Juan. He spelled virgin.Virgen. San Juan is again spelled using the letter V as opposed to the U. The wood seems to be made of walnut. It is a hardwood and heavy in weight. This retablo measures 21.5" x 14.5" 1 1/8" thick. It is carved from this single piece of wood. Simply fabulous.
