THIS AUCTION IS FOR THE CARVING PICTURED. I'VE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON THIS PIECE. IT APPEARS TO DATE FROM THE 1880'S THRU EARLY 1900'S. IT IS CARVED ROSEWOOD MAYBE BOXWOOD BUT I DOUBT IT. THE COLOR IS A CHERRY OR MAHOGANY SO I WOULD SAY MOST LIKELY ROSEWOOD. IT STANDS ABOUT 15" HIGH AND IS ABOUT 5" AT IT'S WIDEST POINT. THERE IS AN AGE OR NATURAL CRACK AT THE BASE THAT DOESN'T REALLY EFFECT THE PIECE. VERY DETAILED AND INTRICATE CARVING. Antique wooden religious mission statue. Hands have been lost over time which is usual for most old Santos statues. The wings which were made of wood have been lost as well but does not take away from the overall beauty of the piece and is typical for statues of this age. The wings signifies of him being an angel. Antique 19th Century Footed American Native Woven Lidded Reed Basket Alligator
For sale is what I believe an early American possibly native peoples lidded woven footed basket with a carved alligator decoration on walnut panel on its woven lid. The construction appears to be early 19th cent. before 1850 from similar baskets I have seen from native peoples and from this period. I do not have any documentation or provenance concerning these representations. This is an educated guess on my part from dealing with antiques and collectibles for over 40 years. I recall I obtained this piece somewhere along the East coast many years ago. But I do not recall which state. I want to say New England states, Georgia, or Florida, but not sure. The basket with lid measures approximately 5" in length by 3 5/8" wide by 2 1/2" in height.

Guaranteed to be original and as described- A VERY unusual and quite unique Antique early to mid 19th Century hand carved wooden shoe. The shoe has a wonderful smooth feel overall from over 150 years of handling with an outstanding patina from age. The wood is a heavier type of wood and looking at the grain it looks to be oak and or a heavier fruit wood. SIZE: 10 3/4 inches long by 3 1/4 inches high by about 3 inches wide across the top.CONDITION: Fine condition. There are no repairs. Just some very minor loss on one end on top above the heel strictly from age and wear. There are some minor age cracks but nothing detracting from the awe of this superb and outstanding and highly unique and rare carving. The wonderful bear on the back rest is a master work of black forest carving and is fully carved on both the front and back of the back rest. This stunning chair stands 28 1/2" tall and the seat is 12 3/4" high x 13" wide x 11 1/4" deep. Both the back rest and seat have mortise and tenon construction. He produced this beautiful watercolor painting of a comely lady with a beard. Sitting quietly knitting outside her home on a warm Autumn day. This piece is signed in the deliberate Forrini-style handwriting. But it is not the name, Forrini" or"Torrini" as he is also known) I don't know if ... morehe signed this painting as an alias with a signature that was an obvious clue as to whose work it was, or if there was another artist at that time who emulated Forrini's style of painting and the way he signed his name. There is very little to go on. This painting was purchased with another Torrini painting from Bundy Hall, estate of John Holly Knapp Jr. of Menomonee, Wisconsin. This could be an indication that this could also be a Forrini. Within the matting. This piece measures approximately 10" wide and 14" high. Overall, it measures 18 1/8" wide by 22 1/2" high.
