Antique Oval Wood Framed 18th Century Scene by Allen Eaton Bookstore
This framed picture was completed by the Allen Eaton bookstore in Eugene Oregon between 1902 and 1915. The store opened in 1902 and was closed by Eaton in 1915. Eaton has been called America's leading handicrafts advocate. In his book on Eaton. Prof David Van Dommlen writes of Eaton's advocacy to American crafts. We believe this frame and picture are true examples of this dedication. The wood frame is oval and is 9 inches wide and 7.5 inches high. The rim of the frame has a metalwork design. There is one flaw in the metalwork about three inches down on the right side(see photo#6) The picture is of a lady in what appears to 18th century clothing standing next to a stream. Antique Spanish Colonial Santo, 18th Century, Saint Roque
This is a beautiful spanish colonial santo. Most likely from the 18th century. The figure is of carved wood with gesso applied then paint and gold leaf. The statue has the origional finish on it. Part of the clothing design is still present which I tried to capture in the last photo. The base is missing and statue has been displayed hanging from the wall. The approx size is 10 1/2 inches tall by 6 inches wide by 3 inches deep. Another Ebayer has identified this santo as Saint Roque.

From the collection of a retired diplomat we offer a most unique carved figure of the Christ. Our supplier indicated that the crucified figure. Now missing its arms, originated in Latin America, probably from Mexico and dates from the late 17th to early 18th century. Beautifully carved one can see an expertise in the sculpture. And the agony that the Lord suffered in His final passion. The body is very emaciated and he is bearded with long hair. The hair is half way down the back. This is an unusual and quite insulting carved figure of an African American gentleman. He is dressed in 18th or early 19th century costume. With knee breeches, fancy waistcoat, and long coat. He is standing on what appears to be a tree stump, which makes me feel he is a caricture of an black politician or preacher. He stands 4 1/4 inches high and is carved from a single piece of wood. On the base are two sets of inscriptions. One set is initials in pencil and the second is a series of numbers in ink, which look like museum accession numbers.

Authentic 18th Century Carved Wood Angels. The appraiser said they are from the 1700's and possibly earlier. You are buying the pair. They may be Santos- antique sacred religious Art. Very unique. One Angel is playing the tambourine and the other plays the flute. They have much of their paint in tact but as you can see some has chipped off all over the pieces due to the age.
