This is an amazing piece and although there are issues that I will explain, it is by far one of the most stunning Empire sofa you will come across. The level of the veneer work and carving is of the HIGHEST quality. This is an 1800's walnut veneered sofa with hand carved fruit and bird's feather feet with incredibly detailed claws. The entire top of the back is rolled veneer in excellent condition. The wood glows. This piece is a work of art! It would be the focal point of you living room or Victorian parlor. I was told this is a Philadelphia piece. Here is the opportunity to get an incredible high style Victorian sofa AND choose the fabric to match your decor. The wood finish is gorgeous! There are some small chipped areas of the carved wood on the right side. A very old wood crack that is not open but could use some stiffening as long as it is in the hands of a good restorer and some small veneer chips. During the reupholstery process, when all of the fabric is off, all of this can easily be addressed by a restorer. This is common and almost all antique furniture has some issue to address once the fabric is off. When you are done. It would all be worth it. This is an heirloom sofa. The shape and style is SO high end that it borders on Victorian iconic! This could be a museum quality piece. You can see the hand carved feathers. Each claw has hand carved toenails! This is a stunning antique 19th century hand carved wood stylized bull dog walking stick/cane. it is carved with an abundance of very intricate derailing and set on a natural. Very sturdy, thorn-wood shaft which has a wonderful patina from age and natural look. The handle is completely hand carved and is a stylized depiction of a bulldog. it has is a cartoonish depiction and he has one large eye and one squinting small eye. he is also sticking out his tongue which is painted red along with his beautifully carved nose. his ears stick back and his eyes are set with black glass. the larger eye is in the shape of a cut black diamond. right underneath the handle is a dimensional bronze flower which is detailed and has a nice patina from age. the bottom of the cane is finished with a solid bronze tip. the cane measures 34 1/2 inches long by 2 1/4 ... moreinch wide. it is in nice antique shape. Antique 1800's- Black Forest Wood Carved German Edelweiss Extending book shelf- Some pics with camera flash some without- Bookends Measure 14" across unopened. 19"1/2 fully extended, 5"1/2 wide- Bookends are in excellent condition.It is nice and chunky and very heavily hand carved, they fully extent perfectly without resistense, hinges are affixed fine and are not loose at all, i see no cracks or chips, seems absolutely solid and in no danger of coming apart or cracking. it is a tad bit dusty but will clean up beautifully with a little water wipe down, color is uniform through out and very dark brown almost black, this is a black forest wood which is very rare to find these days and i believe is totally illegal to use to make anything anymore as it was over harvested many decades ago. i did some research and found a couple ... moreother examples of this book end though not exactly carved the same but i am more than positive this is a edelweisee flower that is only found in germany near certain mountains,this particular flower was very famous and sacred by the germans of WWII as they even wrote songs about it and even made metals of the flower. top to bottom this is one very nice example of an old mechanically working bookend,really nice and heavily hand carved. This is a really fine pair of hand carved wooden angel cherub figures. They are in excellent condition save for a small chip at the base of one and an even smaller chip on a wing. These can be easily painted with gold leaf but I leave that to the buyer as some want things as found. I recently purchased these in New York from a man that handles high end estates. These have significant age as I believe the nails are early rose head. Square nails. I date them to the 1800's but they could possibly be from the 1700's. I also found the bottom carrage in the same box, not sure if it even goes with this piece, but it seems like it might, so i included it in the auction. Antique Hand Carved Corner Shelf Late 1800's Stag Head
Exquisite hand carved stag head walnut corner shelf. Bought from an estate in Chesterfield. Mo. their great grandfather hand carved the shelf at their homestead in Augusta, Mo. in late 1800's. The shelf is 161/2 inches high by 16 inches wide, it appears to be carved of walnut, but I'm not an expert) it has great detail, beautifully carved by a master woodworker. It is in excellent condition for it's age, minor wear from handling over the years, no problems that distract from it's beauty. Some square nails are visible in close examination that helps verify its age. I could find no evidence of any repairs or significant damage. A wonderful piece that would be a great accent for any home.

This is a stunningly rare antique hand carved wood 19th century figural display cloche jar pedestal. the figural pedestal is very intricately carved and done with an abundance of ornate detailing. it depicts a beautifully robed women which has acquired a wonderful patina from age. it has a wonderful circular base and circular jar mount on the top of the head. it holds a blown glass dome cloche jar which has a beautiful solid bronze gothic finial. the piece measures 28 1/4 inches tall by 6 inches wide. the jar alone measures 4 3/4 inches in diameter by 8 inches tall without measuring the finial. it is in nice antique condition. This wooden doll came from an estate of an old doll collector. It came with a hand written tag that said it was circa 1875. I am not in the doll business and have tried to research this doll and could not find much. It is 8 inches tall and is in excellent condition with no damage. This is a stunningly rare antique 19th century large bronze and hand carved wood religious Mary and baby Jesus statue. The statue is made from extremely thick bronze and is very heavy. it has beautiful detailing depicting Mary cradling baby Jesus in her arms and has acquired a nice patina from age. they stand on a very ornate hand carved and painted wooden base. it is in the shape of a flower and a stylized rock/rectangular base which is painted by hand with thick polychromed paint. the statue sits onto of the flower but can be removed if desired. it is in nice antique condition and measures 15 inches tall by 7 1/2 inches wide. the statue alone measures 9 1/4 inches and is extremely heavy. very rare nice quality religious statue. This is a stunning antique late 19th century hand carved wood usable canvasback drake duck decoy sculpture. it was a decoy that was used and once had a lead weight mounted to the bottom. it is a rare piece that would have been pulled by the neck and still has some lacquered wired still wrapped around his. it has its original paint job and is a nice design. he has a flat bottom with beautifully inlaid yellow and black glass eyes. the decoy is a life-size and measures 13 3/4 inches long by 6 1/2 inches tall by 5 inches wide. it is in nice antique condition. Antique Black Forest Chip Carved wood Romer & Centigrade Thermometer 14", 1800's
RARE find. This antique chip carved thermometer is in excellent condition. The mercury thermometer is attached to the 6" metal strip with clips and fine brads. On tiny brad is missing from the bottom clip.The thermometer is held in place by the brads, a recessed area to hold the ball and a finely curved glass tip with fits in the recessed top of the thermometer. The thermometer is marked in Roemer and Centigrade degrees. The wood is beautifully carved and fitted with a hanger. It is 14.5" long and 3.5" wide.

ANTIQUE ARCHITECTURAL HAND CARVED WOODEN HEAD OF MAN/EXPLORER 1800's)
I am offering a very unique hand carved wooden bust of a man. Looks like Christopher Columbus, hat, mustache and curls. This piece measures 7 1/2" high and 2 7/8" deep. The color is a dark wood. There is a dowel hole on the bottom, it must have been on top of a column on a piece of furniture, my guess. There are two cracks on the outer side at the top, you can see this in photo. This is a solid piece, no chips, intact. I worked in antiques and refinished antique furniture for many years, especially EUROPEAN, so I know that the age of this would be the 1800's. This is a magnificent architectural piece.
