Beautiful 20th Century Folk Art Hand Carved Canoe Shaped Wooden Bowl
This older piece of 20th century folkart crafted by hand out of a single piece of wood has outstanding form and is a great display piece. The wood's burl and carved texture intricately details the care and amazing skill that went into crafting this 20th century folkart. Very nice pyrography detailing. Note: on one of the top edges of the canoe there is an old chip that is about 1" wide. The canoe was carved and two lower extensions with carved holes allow a piece of leather to be connected so the bowl could be hung and secured. 19th or 20th Century Hand Carved Wood Chinese Immortal Figurine Sculpture. Super carving 16" tall of Immortal with fish and basket. Glass teeth, glass eyes, glass eyes on fish as well. Some damage to the fish tale, as you can see in the picture. Immortal figure is in Good Condition with some damage as seen in the images. Minor Cracks in the Wood do to Age, no repaired parts. Immortal figure is missing upper row of glass teeth. Please inspect photos for condition purposes. Irish Bog Oak Folk Carvings one of a little pig(Leprechauns ride pigs) and it is 2 inches long and 1 inch tall and a cooking pot on three legs cauldron and it is 1 3/4 inches tall and 1 3/4 inches in diameter. Vintage Sailor Whirligig - Mid 20th Century
A nice vintage sailor whirligig in very good condition. There are no breaks or repairs. No over-painting. Has a nice patina and weathering. I believe it dates to the 1960's. Measures 15.25" high to the top of the paddle and 13" high to the top of the hat when on stand. The wood block holding the whirligig is not old. He measures 3 1/2 inches tall and his uniform is the double breasted formal jacket with badge. White gloves and blue flat top hat. The number on his badge is"66" The colors and features are distinct but he has a few places where the paint in worn off on the edges because of age and part of his foot is broken as you can see in the pictures. His broken foot does not interfere with his ability to stand. It is a treasure as a hand carved and hand painted collectible for any folk art or law enforcement collector. Dog Carved Wood. Maine, early 20th century. Adopt 26" Sailor Dog Rare!
I do not have the exact provenance.only what a family member told me. The dog was carved by a Maine artist early in the 20th century. He was known as both the"chain saw artist" and"Grandpa Woodie" This is however truly rare and handsome. Intricately cut to show the character of a beloved dog. Probably a hunting animal. Stands 26" high and is about 8" at the widest. Has some paint worn away on ears but otherwise it is in great shape. If it does not sell on eBay it most certainly will at my Maine folk art gallery next summer. Adopt Sailor Dog now.
