Vintage Metal School Pull Down Map Display / Rack / Holder Holds up to 8 Maps
Up for your consideration is a vintage map holder/rack from a school here in NW Ohio. It holds up to 8 pull down style maps. It is in good vintage condition with some signs of wear. No hardware is included with this. The school used'S' hooks to hang it and that seemed to work well for them. It does have little rubber bumpers at the bottom. The little round buttons that hold the maps are about 1 3/8" diameter 42" wide 21 1/8" tall about 1" total thickness. Thanks for taking a look. It is in very good condition& has been folded into quarters. There are holes in the margins at the 4 corners where it was tacked to the wall. There is a small hole in the face of the map as shown in last photo. There is some very light discoloration here& there. Along the side edges about 4" down on both ... moresides the edges are slightly ragged. All in all. This map is great for something almost 100 years old. 1838 Antique Celestial Astronomy Print Scientific Vintage Engraving Map
Up for auction is an old antique engraved print of astronomical devices and instruments from 1838. The print is titled. Tableau Analitique Des Differenes Systemes Du Monde Par Delamarche Ingenieur Mecamiciene pour les Globes et Spheres, 1838. It shows celestial and terrestrial globes, an armillary, the moon, and other astronomical charts, systems, and observations. Delamarche was a highly regarded mapmaker of this period. It really is quite an interesting print. It is printed on thick paper with clear engravings. The condition is good for its age with normal tanning and roughness due to age. There are several stains, most of them small, that I have tried to capture in the pictures. The most significant stain is the dark drop of what was probably ink on the left corner. There are no wrinkles other than a fold line done the middle. The corners ... moreare rounded, but it appears as if that was the original design. The print has been folded down the middle and then rolled up, and that is how I will ship it. This print is not framed, even though it might look like it in some of the pictures. I do not have a scanner, so I put a large piece of glass over the top to keep it flat so I could photograph it. The print is a good size, measuring approximately 18" x 13" from the edge of the paper to the other edge. This map is guaranteed to be an original and not a reproduction. This is a unique and rare vintage map of the BoraBora Island. It is the Maraes- Ancient Sacrificial Altars- as you can see in the pictures they are marked thru-out the map. I do not know much else about this map- It does have some bends in it from being folded. I have it rolled up to try and roll out some of the marks. This is our vintage. Framed reproduction map of Vienna Austria by the famed engraver Matthaeus Merian. We purchased it from an elderly Austrian couple so I don't know how old it is but it's certainly vintage at the very least. This print is from his famous 21 volume series. Topographia Germaniae. It is entitled: TOPOGRAPHIA AUSTRIAE 1649 MATTHAEUS MERIAN- WIEN It measures approximately 17" x 12" in its gilded frame. Matthäus Merian Matthäus Merian. Matthäus Merian der Ältere(or"Matthew" the Elder" or"Sr. 22 September 1593– 19 June 1650) was a-born who worked in Frankfurt for most of his career. Where he also ran a publishing house. He was a member of the patrician Basel. Early life and marriage Born in. Merian learned the art of engraving in. He next worked and studied in. And. Before ... morereturning to Basel in 1615. The following year he moved to. Where he worked for the publisher Johann Theodor de Bry. Who was the son of renowned engraver and traveler. In 1617. Merian married Maria Magdalena de Bry, daughter of the publisher, and was for a time associated with the de Bry publishing house. In 1620 they moved back to Basel, but three years later returned to Frankfurt. They had four daughters and three sons. Maria Magdalena de Bry died in 1645 and the following year Matthäus married Johanna Catharina Hein. They're all First Edition Printings dated. March 1966. The RLC-16 is a Ranger IX Chart. The RLC-10 is a Ranger VIII Chart. THESE ARE THE LAST TWO RLC RANGER CHARTS LEFT IN MY INVENTORY. The Ranger Lunar Charts were the first maps created from the first close-up pictures ever taken of the Moon by three American spacecraft. Ranger's VII, VIII& IX. They were designed to photograph selected sites at a continually increasing scale before crash landing onto the lunar surface. Four of the six Apollo landing sites were chosen as a result of images taken by the Ranger spacecraft. Later missions further detailed these areas of interest until a ... morespecific landing site was determined and identified. There were seventeen maps in the RLC series. They were compiled and published by the United States Air Force in 1966. On the reverse side is a duplicate map unencumbered by lines and nomenclature. They are in very good to excellent condition given its age. There are some creases along the lower left corners and border. See photos) These unfolded maps are scarce for sure! Some might say rare.
