Vintage metal tole tray. Hand painted toleware. Black tray with a floral pattern and goldtone trim. Measures approximately 17" by 13 1/2" It is in well preserved condition with still bright popping colors. There is a small dent in the middle and a spot where the paint chipped away on the dent(top part of large pink flower in the middle) signs of wear from age and use, but still a beautiful tray! No rust. Back side of tray has scratches. Pretty tray with keyhole handles. All of my items come from a very non smoking home. From a cousin’s estate we have a large black metal tray. Hand painted toleware– most likely from the 1950’s. The front has beautiful roses in yellow. Orange, pink and light pink with gold trim around the edge. It is octagonal oblong shaped with a fancy lattice work around the edge and handles. The back has a tag that says Fine Arts Studio Hand-Painted Phila 47 PA. I'm not sure when that dates it. But I think that is the 50’s. That's when this type of stuff was more popular. Some of the paint has flaked off on the flowers in the middle. It still a pretty nice piece of nostalgia! Great for your collection! Sticker on the back tell us Fine Arts Studio HAND PAINTED PHILA. 6 PA I can not say for sure when it dates to, but others on the Internet with the same sticker on them are being identified as 1940s- 1950s, so that would be my best guess. Metal tray is most likely either tin or steel. Both sides have been painted so it is difficult to know for sure which metal is under the paint. The hand painted flowers are in very good condition without chipping or wear. But there is some wear to the black paint, particularly on the edges and bottom corners. There are also some small spots of pitting or rusting on the front of the tray. Generally very good condition for age though and wear is conducive with age and use. A lovely raised ... moregallery rim rounds out this spectacular rectangular tray! It measures 22" long. 9"wide and just under 3/4" high. There is paint loss mostly on the black areas so it can easily be touched up or leave it. As it shows it's character. Could use a cleaning as it's been stored away for many years. I picked it up in Southeast Mass. while in my travels of yardsaling/flea marketing. I don't see any maker's mark.
