Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE CONSOLIDATED LAMP& ART GLASS GREEN OPAQUE BEADED DAHLIA SALT SHAKER EAPG A beautiful piece of early American made art glass or EAPG with a molded floral motif in the form of a single salt shaker. This pattern is known as Beaded Dahlia. It was made by the Consolidated Lamp& Glass Co. formerly of Fostoria. Ohio and Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. It is a quality piece of mold blown art glass in green opal or opaque color with a shiny finish. There is roughness all around the rim under the lid covers. This is very common with these early mold blown pieces. When the blown glass piece was cracked off of the blowpipe they were often not finished at the factory since this are would be covered by the lid. It is gorgeous as you can see from the photos! I do my best to describe all items as accurately ... moreas possible and to the best of my ability. Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color. Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item. I see no cracks. Hairlines or repairs. Any discoloration you see in the photos was from the shaker needing a good cleaning. I took care of that and there is no discoloration to the piece now. There is roughness all around the rim underneath where the lid covers. This is very common with these early mold blown pieces. When the blown glass piece was cracked off of the blowpipe they were often not finished at the factory since this area would be covered by the lid. In 1890. George Duncan& Sons produced their pattern No. 335 and in 1891 production was continued by the U.S. Glass Co. The pattern is commonly known as…BEADED SWIRL. It was also known as Swirled Column. This beautiful little BEADED SWIRL…GREEN/ GOLD STAIN…FOOTED BOWL/ COMPORT is 4 inches wide and 1 7/8 inches tall and sits on 3 gold stained feet. Although we now commonly refer to a small footed dish as a berry bowl or sauce dish. In the original George Duncan catalog this 4 inch wide footed bowl is referred to as“4 inch No. 335 Comport. A reprint of this catalog is pictured on page 103 in the book“ENCYCLOPEDIA OF VICTORIAN COLORED PATTERN GLASS…BOOK 5…U.S. GLASS FROM A-Z” by William Heacock. The gold staining on this little item is in very good condition. There are some manufacturing bubbles and“straw marks” which are common in old handmade ... moreopalescent. Carnival, and EAPG, which I mention only for the sake of accuracy. There is some shelf wear and minor roughness( tiny nicks) on the bottoms of the 3 feet, but there are no chips or cracks. This pattern is commonly known as“Beaded Block” and was made by the Imperial Glass Company. Formerly of Bellaire, Ohio. These same pieces are pictured in the book Imperial Glass Co. 1904-1938 Catalogs by Margaret& Douglas Archer on page 125. These two pieces have great color and opalescence and are gorgeous as you can see from the photos! I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability.
