Vintage Art Deco Black Glass Micro Beaded Purse with Beaded Handle
Art Deco Black Micro Beaded Purse Description This vintage Art Deco evening purse must have thousands of black micro glass beads covering the entire surface and the handle and the zipper pull. It has a hard case interior but the beaded fabric is done in soft folds front and back. It has a flat bottom and stands up nicely. It measures 10" wide at the top. Is 5 1/4" high and 3 1/2" deep at the oval bottom. The beaded handle is 17" long and 1 1/2" wide. It is lined in a black silky fabric with one open mirror pocket(no mirror) and closes with a zipper. The only mark on the entire purse is on the zipper pull which reads"Serval" I do not see a bead missing or even a loose bead. It is an amazing purse, and quite roomy, too. I am guessing at the age of this purse by listing it as 1939-48 as it could be earlier.

The blue color leans toward aqua. The frame is darkened so I honestly do not know– for sure– if it is silver-tone or gold-tone but it has a nice repousse double heart design on both sides. Size: From the top of the chain to the bottom of the fringe is 9-1/2” The purse is 5-1/4” long. 3-1/2” wide at the frame and 4-1/2” wide at the body. The chain handle has a drop of 4-1/4” Features: Opens and closes exactly as it should and stays closed and lined up when shut. The lining is ... morea nice matching blue and may not be original. Personalization: No personalization. Condition: As mentioned the frame and the chain handle are oxidized. One loop of black fringe is missing. The only other place where I see threads that indicate missing beads is on the very top of each side where the blue beads come down vertically from the frame. Looks like some re-stitching and beads are needed in that area. The lining is in excellent condition though rather poorly attached to the frame.
