These four glass beaded Halloween Spider placemats are in wonderful condition. They are as they were purchased and never used. They appear blue on my pictures. However they are GREY& BLACK. My picture of the close up is the most accurate in color. The tag remains on the back of all four which reads: Leila's Linens Glass Beads. They measure approx. 13 to 13 1/2 inches in dia. The glass beading is around the edge. The center of the placemat is a polyester fabric and the backing is a cotton fabric backing. The center fabric on one placemat appears to have some very faint soiling, however, on closer inspection it appears to be within the grain of the fabric. Again, these placemats were never used. It is made of hand spun cotton from the Indonesian island of Sumatra. It is called an ulos. At first. Ulos were ordinary cloths to keep warm. As the Batak society evolved, the ulos developed into a symbol of love, involving traditional ceremonies and it became a symbol of where a person fits within the society. An ulos is believed to have magical religious power and thus considered'sacred' with special power to protect the user. This special cloth is made of hand spun cotton thread. Hand dyed with barks, grass, roots, mud or leaves, and handwoven into a vibrant design with corded fringes. Victorian Era Black Glass Beaded Trim
Victorian era black glass beaded trim. This listing is for the 4 sections of black glass beaded trim as shown in the photos. Lengths are 12" 10" and two 8" pieces. The trim is just a little under 3" wide. Trim has a repeating pattern of about 8" length. It appears possible to combine these pieces following the pattern to get a longer length for decorating. Without too much trouble. Trim is made with loops of narrow lengths of beaded trim and oval leaf shaped sections sewn together to form the pattern. The individual parts, ribbon width trim and ovals, are strong but much of the connecting thread that holds them together in the pattern is a little fragile. Could be re-used, but would need some reinforcement stitching to help keep it in place. Even if just for display, you might want to stitch it onto some type of backing ... morefabric for reinforcement. This is a very pretty example of this type of work. The look is similar to the style of Battenburg lace. Made with beaded ribbon instead of cotton tape. Please contact me if you have any questions. Vintage Jet Black Faceted Glass Beaded Necklace w/Matching Earrings, Elongated
Available for purchase is a very classic set of vintage jet black glass beaded necklace and matching earrings. The necklace is relatively short- measuring 17 1/8 inches length. Most notable about this piece is that the beads are faceted but rather than being round they are elongated. Oval shaped beads. Strung on black threading and secured by a gold tone metal traditional c-clasp closure. The earrings ARE round so this may be a marriage but I think that pair well together. The earrings are smaller beads are worn with hooks but something of an unusual finding and construction. This bead measures approx. 12mm. This is a stunning beaded clutch in excellent condition. Measure 8 x 4. This would go great with any outfit. Even jeans and a black leather jacket. I have seen several Ming Arts clutchs but not one like this.The beads are glass so the purse has a little weight to it. When hold it you feel like you are holding something of quality.
