I recently acquired this from the son of an older couple’s estate collection of fine world antiques. They purchased it in the early 1920s from a fine jewelry store in Chicago. This beautiful and authentic Chinese antique is extremely delicate and just takes your breath away when you take a look at all the intricate details and artistry that went into the creation of this extraordinary piece. The ox bone sticks are superbly carved and decorated There are 14 sticks in total and looks to be a complete fan with no sticks missing or broken. The first guard sticks are larger and thicker in size. When fanned out and fully extended. The ox bone sticks display very nicely as does the fine silk work and silver beaded ... moreand threaded details. There is some separation and minor loss of the silk from the edges mainly at the first sticks but the fan is still very attractive and in good condition considering its very old age and the delicateness of the silk which has lasted for so long. Feel free to zoom in on any of the professional photos provided. I wanted to make sure that everyone is able to see the amazing details that went into every single portion and stick of this fine fan. The fan measures about: 19 cm long(7.5” inches) when closed 28 cm long(11” inches) when open 1.3 cm wide at the base when closed(0.6” inch) 2.3 cm wide at the top when close(0.8” inch) There is a simplistic and elegant ox bone button details near the base of each side. 38" L Victorian Antique CARVED ROSES Faux Ivory Ox Bone Graduated Bead Necklace Here is an approx 38" long ANTIQUE or Vintage"FAUX IVORY" OX BONE-NECKLACE with graduated CARVED ROSE or some type of FLOWER BEADS& BEAD CLASP. I'm not sure of age. However I saw a nearly identical necklace sold that was from Victorian era. There are different shades of ivory to darker ivory on beads, a very nice patina. Read on for size& 3 minor flaws. The largest carved center bead is approx 1" long by a little over.50" wide see pic 2. There are 10 graduated carved beads on each side so it hangs very nicely. The next size is approx.75" long by.50" wide& smallest are approx.50" long by a little over.25" wide. The small smooth beads are approx same size as smallest carved bead. Just a bit more narrow. ... moreThis has very old darkened string. Some people like original or very old string for dating a piece. However I this should probably be restrung. Considering the age I think it natural to have some minor flaws. 1. pic 3 shows 3rd bead up from center has a small crack hangs off center sometimes. A bit of epoxy would hold that straight against string. 2. pics 4& 5 show 2 different beads that either weren't carved well or chipped. You have to really look for this, otherwise you don't notice. 3. the bead clasp does work, but it is difficult to close, I think too large of string was used for small barrel clasp. We are not experts but after doing a lot of research we highly suspect this to be the"real thing" but can't guarantee it.
