The whole box is lacquered and the lid features a mother of pearl inlaid border. Inside of the box features a lovely pair of dancing ballerinas who spin around to what sounds like a lovely Japanese tune. I cant identify it. The box inner is lined with a lovely pink fabric which is in lovely, bright condition. The multiple mirror effect is a beautiful touch and in excellent condition. Each of the ballerina's look like they may have been glued back into place at some point. They seem sturdy now, please see pics. Both ballerinas spin and the music plays well when the box is opened. Description H ere we have for sale a Vintage World War II. Oriental Black Lacquer and Mother of Pearl Photo Album or Scrapbook. This is a large weighty piece. Having a black lacquer cover. The front has an impressive large bird of prey made from assembled sections of mother of pearl. The bird is seen perching from a blossom tree and viewing a little bird on the wing. This scene is framed with silver which does have a little loss of paint. The inner pages are held in place with cord binding and are edged with gold leaf. The measurements are 39cm x 27cm or 15inches x 10.5inches. The album is in fairly good condition with some loss of paint to cover and knock to spine/cover. See photos 18 and 19. Beautiful Cantonese carved fan. Made for the export market around the mid 19th Century. Expertly carved in minute detail, and finely embroidered the fan is in good overall condition with some areas of age related damage. There has been a very subtle repair to one of the guard sticks and the silk is a little discoloured and frayed in places. The lacquer box has a few small areas of loss to the lacquer namely to the outer corners, and the silk interior has disintegrated in parts. This listing is for an early 20thC Chinese lacquered pigskin pillow.It is well decorated-with what looks like a screen printed decoration in black.It has some minor condition issues from you which I have photographed and will attempt to describe.But the piece is still sturdy and displays very well as I hope that you can see. I purchased this privately here in Brisbane and have not attempted to clean it but I feel that the lacquer could use a gentle polish-it is a deep cinnabar red and the black decoration shows mostly naturalistic designs of butterflies and flowers-at the two ends and also on one side of the pillow.The other side is decorated with a view of a mountain village. Are you a serious collector of Chinese lacquer boxes? Take a look at this lovely Quing Dynasty black lacquer box. The Quing Dynasty spanned nearly 3 centuries from 1644-1912. It encompasses a tumultuous period in China's history with many wars like the Opium War. The Taiping Rebellion 1849-1860, the Muslim Uprising. The first Sino-Japanes War has taken place in 1895 and of course the famous"Boxer Rebellion" between 1898-1901 which resulted in foreign powers invading China. The last emperor abdicated on February 12th. 1912. The box's diameter is 140mm and the box is 70mm high. On the top there is a nature scene with a central figure which surrounded by small mother of pearl triangles facing inward. The mother of pearl is engraved and the lines are filled with black. This Japanese dinner tray(Kaiseki-Zen’ is of very high-quality lacquer ware. The top features a red and gold makie design of a pine tree. Unattended rake and broom, and boats in the distance, perhaps suggesting some unseen participants who have taken a little break from their work. The underside is a uniform, deep black lacquer finish. Vintage Chinese black lacquer condiment set This is a beautiful old Chinese table set consisting of a small round tray. Salt or pepper shaker, open bowl with its own tiny spoon, a small bowl with a lid. All hand painted with a beautiful traditional landscape in gold, red and green- each piece a small variation on the big theme. It is likely to be an example of Fouzhou(which is on the east coast of China and famous for this handicraft) bodiless lacquerware. Fuzhou bodiless lacquer is firm and light and durable. It is unbreakable and colorfast, and the paint on it will not come off. The process involved in the making of bodiless lacquer is very complicated. First. Make the inner body with clay, plaster or wood, then stick the grass cloth, silk cloth and other materials on the body, using raw lacquer as an adhesive. Paint lacquer successively ... moreon the surface for two times, let the product dry in the shade, remove its inner body, and a primitive product will come into being. Next, dozens of working procedures include filling in the dust, lacquering, polishing, and drying in the shade would be processed until semi-finished product comes out. Antique Japanese page turner. Probably Meiji period. It is carved wood on one side and black lacquer on the other. It has a shaped handle with two holes through which a cord would have been threaded. The carved side has a charming scene depicting a man holding aloft what looks like a musical instrument or it could be a fan. Hovering above him is a bat so he may trying to ward this off. The reverse side features flowers. A straw roofed building by water and a prunus(I'm guessing) tree. It measures 14 ins/26 cms long. It is generally in good condition with a few surface marks. See pictures 10 and 11) Inside the beautiful flower design continues. 3 draws that open and close easy, each of the draws have metal handles in keeping with the style of the cabinet. The top, sides and back has an Orange spot design. A few dings and a few chips to the top front of the cabinet, age crack to the right side door(centre) but looks in keeping with the age of the piece. Hinges work perfectly. Small bolt to the bottom left door and sliding Knob and bolt to the right door to the side of key hole- no Key. Left door closes and locks but right door remains open. Universal eBay Template An unusual antique Lacquer Wooden plate. this is part of a collection of 3 which i am selling today. i believe they are from Burma or India but they may be Chinese? they have an undercoat colour then a black overcoat the pattern is then etched in revealing the undercoat colour. i would suggest this is early 20th century in date. this one has 5 carved cow bone decorations that can be turned. fine addition to add to the collection. Size 27 cm in diameter. Condition the condition appears to be excellent for its age. there are a few knocks and a few losses to the lacquer on the rim and on the main body. there is also a couple of cracks to the rim back.
