It spins smoothly. It measures about 4" from the bottom where you attach the pole to the top. The handle is 3" long. The cone shaped part of the reel screws off. ANTIQUE BRASS FLY FISHING REEL, w/ UNUSUAL CUTOUT DESIGN ON SIDE. UNMARKED.
Offered here is an ANTIQUE FLY FISHING REEL MADE OF BRASS WITH TWO WOODEN HANDLES. Its possible the spool is made of nickel plated steel that is covered in a greenish patina. The reel's spool diameter is 4 1/2 inches across and it stands 5 inches high. I looked all over but I could not find any maker's name or manufacturer's mark or logo. This reel has a very unusual cutout design on the brass or nickel plated spool sides. The wooden handles are in good conditon. No cracks or splits, and they have their original finish and wear. The reel's spool turns freely and smoothly when the lever is depressed. The castings are all in excellent conditon.no chips or cracks. The original finish and conditon has been left on this antique reel. I suppose that if you cleaned up this reel the brass would shine and the nickel plated spool would ... morecome up bright and smooth. The button cuff sleeves are long, but halfway up the arm have button flaps for rolling up to short sleeves(there's a slit to hide flaps inside when wearing sleeves long) Large chest pockets, one on left and two on right, all velcroe closures. There is some slight freys on top seam of pockets, really nothing major but want to be completely honest of it's condition(see 2nd picture, kind of hard to see due to the print) The chest measures 43" when buttoned. The length is 32" measured from collar seam down to bottom hem. The sleeve length is 23" measured from shoulder seam down to bottom cuff.

This is a lidded lacquer box made of solid cryptomeria wood with a black lacquer finish. With the outside being finished in a warm orange-red lacquer with gold embellishments. Japanese lacquer is considered the finest in the world. There are over ten layers of black and then red lacquer with gold trim. The inside of the lid says"kanreki yogo, indicating that this was presented to someone at their 60th birthday(kanreki) along with a speech(yogo) The top of this box has a gold design of cherry blossoms(see pictures) behind a fishnet design throughout.
