Solid antique Chinese jade horse. Circa 1700s. The fantastic jade horse is make of the famous hetan jade or the so called mutton fat jade. The horse is in a seated position with his head turned towards the back. It has beautiful lines and wonderful hand carvings. The photos speak for itself. The jade was bought in China in the 1970s. There was no private enterprise in Shanghai. China then. This jade was bought from a Friendship Store. I have a jade collection and they are all different. For a long time I did not want to sell any of them. Now I need the cash and hoping that the jades will go to a nice home that can appreciate it. The jade is in perfect condition. It is very old. Very Lovely Antique Chinese Wood Carving Hand Carved & Gilded Circa 1920s
Antique Chinese wood carved panel from old Chinese house. Circa 1920s. It probably was part of a window. The carving features two children playing in the garden. The one on the left is playing a Chinese game with a kicking object made of feather and paper. The carving is carved from one piece of wood gilded and lacquered in red. Old houses in China were demolished in great numbers in the 80s and the 90s to make way for modern developments. A lot of the traditional carvings were thrown out. Solid antique Chinese hetan white jade. Circa Dao Guang period 1810s. The beautiful hand carved white jade pendant has a poem by Li Po on one side and carving of Li Po reading on the other side. There is an artist's seal at the end of the poem. The poem is beautifully carved in old Chinese scripts. I bought this jade in the 1970s when China first allow tourists to enter the country. It came from one of the government owned Friendship Stores in Shanghai. I have a small jade collection all from China and all before 1990s. This is one of my best jades. Very beautiful antique Chinese wooden stand made of huanghuali wood. Circa 1800s. The exquisite stand has a marble top. The marble has a hand etched painting of a lotus pond. The artist utilised the natural marble colour to create a background. The lotus leave are coloured in green. The lotus flower in white above the large lotus leaf. Two dragon flies on the left side of the marble disc. Artist's seal and signature on the left and right of the marble. The superb etching in addition to the colouring and the use of natural marble colours made this a really interesting piece. The stand itself is carved in the traditional Chinese design using tongue and groove method to put together. No nails were used. The top and the legs are joined very well and almost undetectable. Exquisite Antique Chinese Hand Painted Porcelain Plaque c1874 Signed & Dated
Exquisite antique Chinese porcelain plaque. Circa 1874 Xian Feng( 咸丰) period. The hand painted porcelain plaque features a scene of Chinese landscape. The scene shows a man riding a donkey with his attendant followed behind. They seem to be travelling towards a thatched hut deep in the mountain covered with snow. There is a man drinking wine in the hut. Minute and attention to detail. The artist had portraited the man on the donkey as an old man. You can tell by the tiny beard showing by his face. There are foot prints leading from the lower left to the bridge and stops where the donkey is standing. All shown great care and love to execute the painting. The plaque is glazed which means after the painting and writing. The plaque was fired in the kiln with low heat. To handle firing with various colours was a difficult process especially back ... morein the days. There is a poem on the top left hand side. It is about some one who braved the storm through the snow clad path to arrive at the Plum Blossom Cliff to taste the local wine. The plaque was dedicated to a man by the name of Poon. The artist signed. Sealed and dated the plaque. I bought this plaque in the 1960s from Macau. The plaque should have a wooden stand but when I bought it it was like this. The plaque is in perfect condition. No chip or crack. Measurement: 36.5 cm x 25 cm The battery is there for size comparison only. It has nothing to do with the item. The background is painted the wonderful Yangtze River with sail boats and cliffs on the side. The title of the plaque: Jade water by the Eastern Sea is written on the right. The name of the artist and the date of the painting 1936 is written on the side. The porcelain plaque has a lovely rosewood frame. A brass ring for hanging is on top. Genuine antique Chinese jade pendant. Circa 1800s. The lovely pendant is make of the famous hetian white jade or the so called mutton fat jade. The carving on one side is an old man while the other side has some illegible Chinese poem which I had somebody worked out that it is: 三仙月大元上不口命 The jade has lovely opaque white colour. The jade was bought in China in the 1970s when China just allowed foreigners into the country. There was no private enterprise in China then. This jade was bought from a government owned Friendship Store. I have a jade collection and they are all different. For a long time I did not want to sell any of them. Now I need the cash and hoping that the jades will go to a nice home that can appreciate it. The jade is in very good condition. I have taken photographs of various angle so you can see. This is a small trinket or coin dish. It is enamelled metal. The background is royal blue enamel and it has been highly decorated by hand with swirls of earthy red(rough to the touch) enamel with dots of turquoise blue and very fine white decoration. I am not certain of the place of origin. I thought chinese? I am sure someone reading this will be saying stupid woman it's from? on the back it is plain white enamel with a sort of hanging loop. Antique Vintage Hand Painted Chinese Character Cards Circa 1950s
Hello all! Free shipping in the USofA only! Here is a cool vintage Chinese/Mandarin/Cantonese set of character flash cards. So my research found. I could not find any others online like this. Only current flash cards for school kids. These are hand painted. Hand written, and hand numbered on the flip side, all in black. I did not count the cards or even look at all of them, except for a handful. The highest character card I found was 995. About 200 cards give or take are blank. This may of been an unfinished custom set, belonging to a teacher, who knows really. Keep in mind my estimate may be off. I'm not entirely sure how old these actually are. I've dated them circa 1950s because everything else I found at the home were from that era. They may date older! They are in a nice vintage box. I don't know what wood it is made from. ... moreProbably from some ancient sacred tree that is not found in the USofA or even exists anymore. It appears to be hand cut and put together. The front hook latch works just fine. The hinges are original. The left hinge needs 2 screws replaced. Easy hardware store fix. The right hinge is a bit stiff and needs adjusting. The lid does open but with some hesitation. I don't think it takes anything away from the item regardless. I hate to let this go. But I'm not necessarily doing anything with it. Tears. Very heavy antique Chinese hand crafted bronze bell and stand. The majestic bell is made of solid bronze. It has hand crafted design all over it. There are two wide bands of design on the bell. The top one has continuous floral design. Six Chinese characters on top has the meaning of Made in the Ming Dynastic Xuande Reign. The bottom band has two dragons wrapped around the bell. Four Chinese characters has the meaning of Lasting Legacy. The top of the bell has two lizards perch on opposite sides. The striker is made of very old hard wood. The stand is made of wood. The jade is the famous hetan(hetian) or mutton fat jade. It is very well carved and has natural old veins. I bought this jade in the 1970s when China first allowed tourists to enter the country. Antique Exquisitely Carved Jade Belt Hook. Beautiful White/Mutton Fat& Grey Jade Hand Carved Belt Hook. In excellent condition, there are 3 or 4 small stones wedged in the jaws of the large dragon head. Smooth surfaces but some uneven areas and tool marks as is the case with hand worked stone. A nice piece. Ex-California collection purchased in the early 1900's and taken with a large collection to USA from Japan just before the start of WWII. The family had a Fur Trading company in China in the very early 1900's and it is likely to have been added to the collection while there. Carved very early 1900's but may be much earlier. Beautiful. Very Rare Antique Chinese Hand Etched Brass Dragon Lantern Circa 1800s
Very rare antique Chinese dragon lantern made of brass. Circa late 1800s. The brass globe lantern has hand etched dragon design. It has cut outs from two pieces of brass with the dragon design etched on by hand. There is one dragon on each side of the globe. In the old day it would have had rice paper glued to the inside and a candle would be lit. Later a hole was drilled near the opening and was converted into an electric lamp. The Chinese used this kind of lanterns for centuries. New and similar style globe lanterns were made in Japan and other places. This one is Chinese as you can tell by the design. Some pieces of brass have come apart otherwise the lantern is in excellent condition. It is hard to measure the lantern but the size is similar to a basket ball. Two very rare and very old antique Chinese paper dolls. The dolls are made of material and stuffed with cotton. One is a priest with a beard. The other looks like a monk. The dolls are very old. One has loss most of its face. I am not sure what the dolls were for. The backing is made of silk covered cardboard so may be they were decorations for a box.
