Purchased this Amazing Antique Kalaga at a local auction. It is about 6 feet long and 3 feet wide. It includes Warriors. Monkey, Horse driven Chariot, Dragon Fish and an Elephant! Never have I seen a Kalaga like this.with all the 3D characters and the large cut stone jewels. No doubt this was handed down a couple generations. I wish I knew more about it and Kalagas in general(I did research them a little to identify listing value) I was going to keep it but then a couple stones came out and I thought this should be owned by someone who could have it framed and mounted to preserve it(though I have read it should not be put under glass) This Kalaga is very heavy and somewhat fragile so I will be shipping it folded in a large box. Antique Burmese corner wall shelf ornate carved padouk wood oriental Asian
A fantastic carved wooden hanging corner shelf. Originating I believe from East Asia, specifically the Burmese region. The shelf measures approx. 32 inches high x 15 inches wide at the widest point. It appears to date from the last half of the 19thC. Probably 1880s/1890s. The wood is probably padouk. With a great patina and deep colour, and the carving is intricate and detailed. I particularly like the two reading men, and the elephant. There are two minor losses visible on close examination- one elephant tusk and something from the very top of the unit. As shown- but these do not detract from the overall appearance. A well-made substantial piece of furniture. Complete with brass hooks ready for hanging. Shipping: I pack well. In my opinion an ANTIQUE 16thc PROVINCIAL BURMESE. RARE HAND PAINTED DEEP GREEN AND CREAM WHITE, BOWL. The item is in fine order. There is an expected amount of age associated wear. Usual imperfections with hand made ancient pottery, manufacture features, pictured small rim slice nibble. Unusual potter's mark to the under foot. Please see pictures. Combined postage offered. Part of my Asian based collections. Diameter is at 5.6 inches. Depth at 3.5 inches. Part of my own oriental pottery collection offered; owned from the 1990's. I will happily ship to China. In my opinion an exceptional and rare. VERY LARGE TUKATHA PEGU, MANDALAY TILE, ANTIQUE BURMESE, TUKATA SIA KABAN" DOUBLE MONKEY( LINGE" HEADED WARRIOR OF MARA FIGURE, HAND PAINTED IN TRADITIONAL GREEN AND CREAM glazes. This is a very fine and impressive sized tile with two fighting/ play fighting warrior figures/ men. This is made from thick hand formed clay, fully hand painted. This was bought at source in the Far East in the mid 1990's. And is the largest one that I have owned. I believe this is from an important building, possibly in old Mandalay itself, as I have seen two others with that reference, both dates to 18th/early 19thc. Part of my Asian based collections. The item is in fine reference order. Note pictured manufacture"crack" to one rim side as pictured. Age glaze crazing to the glaze, see pictures. Height ... moreat 12.5 inches.
