On the background is an aircraft hanger and another aeroplane in the air. The poster was distributed by the Fooh Shing Tobacco Company(China) There is a 1934 calendar in Chinese on the bottom of the poster. A packet and a can of Holmes Brand of cigarette on the top left corner. On the right hand corner is written: Presented by Fooh Shing Tobacco Company and'Generals in tobacco' On the bottom are two packets of Pyramid cigarettes on the left and Min Hwa Brand and World Hero Brand on the right. Both the subject matter and the distributing company are extremely rare and hard to find. A Chinese lady wearing a pilot outfit is almost unheard of in China. Yoshida is a common Japanese name and I am not sure if it relates to the current Sharp International that produce electronics. The poster features a Chinese angel scattering flower petals(a Chinese legend of bring blessings to people) She is in traditional Chinese ancient clothings. The name of the soap appears on top and the name of Yoshida printed on the bottom. 1930s was the period prior to the Japanese invasion to China. Great numbers of Japanese products were sold in the Chinese market. Yoshida soaps were quite famous then. Two pictures of Texaco refineries underneath the globe. Texaco's various products featured in the centre. Descriptions for the four pictures listed on the bottom. It gives explanation for the production of Texaco Products. Locations of some of its refineries and its transportation to various ports in China. A Chinese calendar dated 1918 printed on the bottom of the poster with pictures of American Kerosene Products in the middle. The borders of the poster is designed with the Chinese symbols of longevity. The poster was printed in Hong Kong by the South China Morning Post. This poster was made by a studio to use as a sample to show customers such as cigarette companies so they can choose. There is no company logo or products. The paper on which the poster was printed is much thinner than normal posters. It also was printed on a smaller paper and a border was added. It might have a backing at some point of time. Essco was one of the largest oil companies operated in China before the war. The poster features one of the most famous scenic spot Quilin in China complete with mansions. Elaborate bridge, pine trees and people. All wonderfully painted in vivid colours. In fact the colour is so fresh it was as if it was printed recently. A poem dedicated to the scenery and artist's name and seal on the right. Another signature on the lower left bottom and Esso's red seal on the right bottom of the painting. The poster features two ladies in swimming costumes. The background is a traditional Chinese scene. Looks like they are swimming in the river by the houses. A typical scene near Shanghai. There are three packets of cigarettes on the bottom: The Yuhtoo brand. The Chaoyung brand and a Chinese brand Zhaochao with no English title. The brands are interesting as there are no English influence. The name Yuhtoo means The Rabbit in the Moon which came from a famous Chinese fairy tale. Extremely rare antique Chinese advertising poster. Circa 1930s. The poster features a Chinese lady in traditional Chinese costume standing by a rose bush. The poster was distributed by Gossages Soaps of London and Dublin. The name of the company in Chinese was Chian Mu. There are two bars of soap featured on the bottom of the poster. One has no name and the other one is Wheel Pale Soap. Several stamps on the bottom: Four stamps has the company's Chinese name. Two stamps has: Fragrant Honey Soap written on them. There is also an advertising slogan on the bottom: World Famous' written in Chinese. Name of Gossages in English, name of the company in Chinese, and two stamps that has London and Dublin written on them. Gossages was making soaps in England since the 1800s. Gossages was found by William Gossages in the late 1800s and had become a very successful company until First World War when UK companies were producing non fragrant soaps for war effort. The company was sold to the Lever Brothers after the war and later became Unilever until today. The name Gossages was still used by Unilever until the 1960s. The metal rods and the cloth loop for hanging are still intact. Some tears on the sides. A couple of holes near the bottom. The main picture is not affected. The poster was printed in lithograph or stone printing. The quality is very good. You can see the fine prints on the soap packaging. Posters such as this one were given away as wall decorations in China. Most of them would have been stuck on the wall with some rice glue. They were not items of value and not meant as keepstake so many didn't survive. This is the only one I have of Gossages Soaps. It is very rare and it is a genuine 1930s poster. Extremely rare early 1930s antique Chinese advertising poster/ Genuine with moneyback guaranteed. This is a genuine original Chinese poster. It is not a reproduction. The very rare poster was distributed by Sun Ho Shin Brewery in Peiping(today's Beijing) The poster features a lady in traditional Chinese costume holding a fan made of feathers. The brand name Five Star and the manufacturer's name is printed in Chinese on top of the poster and in English on the bottom. Five Star beer established in China in 1915. After the People's Republic of China won the revolution in the 1940s. The brewery was taken over by the government and became a state owned enterprise. It was the most famous beer in China during that era. Five Star Beer Brewery was taken over in 1995 by a Beijing based American entrepreneur who hoped to gain some of the beer market of in China. Now Five Star Beer is being sold all over China in addition to other countries such as the U.S.A. This poster is the only one I have ever seen of Five Star Beer. The poster was printed by lithograph and the quality is very good. The poster has some small holes near the rod on top and some on the rest of poster. Some small tears on the sides. A discolouration near the model's chest and the chair. Apart from that the poster is in very good condition consider it's age. The two metal rods are intact. Posters like this one were given as new year presents and were never meant as keepsakes. They were also made of paper so not too many survived. Genuine antique Chinese poster. Circa 1920s. This is a genuine old Chinese advertising poster printed in the 1920s and it is not a reproduction. The poster features a young lady watching her brother study while she is doing her embroidery. The top of the poster is name of the company Yue Ji Hein. The company's addresses in Quangzhou and Hong Kong written on the left and right hand. Register logo below. On the bottom in huge red letters are: Long Live the Republic. Underneath that is a list of the company's medication and their usage. Yu Ji Hein was one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in Southern China in the 1920s and 30s.
