I have seen these referred to as"wedding bracelets" and that they symbolize the union of the two families with the two dragons latching together in the center forming an eternal bond. I think that is lovely! This beautiful genuine vintage chinese bracelet is quite substantial and is adorned with wonderful rolling scrollwork and vibrant cobalt. Aqua and purple enamel and the eyes of the dragons are red coral cabochons! It was very difficult to capture the beauty of this bracelet and the photos do not do it justice! You will love it. The bracelet is made of gold washed or gilt sterling silver and the gilding is almost if not entirely still present. I'm not sure what the metal is. In one light it looks silver and another lighting looks like silver and brass(maybe both) It is 1" wide in the center and 2-5/8" across. It bears silver& maker marks on each side of the silver section. Noticed when looking down on it. The silver is applied by wrapping& seaming it in the rear inside the bracelet& it has a slight slit to that seam, running to about the middle of the plaque. It is NOT undermined by this though, it was likely in the making. The silver section is tightly attached. I have provided many pictures. Please ask any questions you might have. The bracelet measures 7" long to the end of clasp and about 6 3/4" closed and is 1" wide. There are three carved insets which measure 7/8" x 3/4" wide. The back of each square inset is marked China and Silver and the number 925 is impressed in a circle on the end of the clasp. I lightly cleaned the bracelet. All the carvings are well done and nothing broken or missing. The silver work of the bracelet is very intricate and delicate. The clasp fastens securely.
