From the ... moretemples of Ayutthaya in Thailand. Recognisable as a Ayutthaya artefact from the bun shaped head-dress and topknot. Known as'ushnia' and from the heart shaped eyebrow line. Though the face does look slightly Cambodian, so it'may' be Khmer, or at least Khmer-influenced. It is remarkably well made. The face itself is very well modelled with a very serene countenance. It appears to have been removed from a larger statue(Not by me! The ears are very long. A reflection of the Buddhas former life as a prince, when he wore very heavy jewellery. A very serene Buddha statue. It would look stunning in any setting. It stands 107 mm high. It weighs 419 grams. A pretty Buddha fragment. In very presentable condition. Please note. This is made from thick hand formed clay, with brown celadon sided body design, four small under base feet.the figure obviously is an interesting reference example. This was bought at source in the Far East in the mid 1990's. The item is in fine reference order. Chip free. Age glaze crazing to the glaze. No restoration or further damage.Combined postage offered. You are bidding on ALL 3 BRASS DEER, not individual. They were bought in what was then Ceylon(now Sri Lanka) in the early 1960's and were antiques then. As they are handmade(not from a mold) the dimensions are approximate. From the highest tip of the horn on each down to the toe- the height is approximately 7 inches. From the nose to the tail on each- the width is approximately 6 inches. They are very. Very HEAVY as SOLID brass, original antiques. Amazing Antique Panels (3) with Hand Carved Stone/Jade Horses! Really Cool!
Wow. Is this EVER cool! I've been holding onto this 3 panel set of horse"art" carved from precious stone for a long time trying to find someone who can tell me about it. It looks to be Asian(maybe Occupied Japan? and perhaps from the early part of the century but really, I'm guessing. The horses are carved in great detail. A self proclaimed stone expert friend suggested some of it may be Jade. Then we tested all the stone art and he appears to be correct. Some is. Maybe you can tell me more? There is slight typical wear on the panels that are not connected(hinges don't function) with small scuffs here and there on the horses but very sparse and horse parts missing. On one of the panels, a piece of the landscape has been broken off. And it also looks as if there were more than 3 panels. Here I have 3 that connect the ... moreimagery perfectly and are in very nice condition. Each measures almost 14" from the bottom of the foot of the panel to the top. And almost 4.5" across. Wayang kulit is a famous traditional form of puppetry in Indonesia. Mainly in Java and Bali. Wayang’ means‘shadow’ in Javanese and‘kulit’ means leather or skin.
