Very Nice Rare 1920 Stanford Atlas Map of North America
A single-sheet(no folds) map. Scarce 1920 Post WW1: North America Provenance Stanford's London Atlas of Universal Geography. Whitehall Edition. London: Edward Stanford. Please be aware that these National Geographic Maps are anywhere from 20 to 80 years old. They are printed on paper that is not acid free and in most cases have not been stored in the best way. So the maps you are buying will be in a condition that reflects both of these facts. The map you get may be worn or lightly torn along the fold lines due to the acidity of the paper and being folded for years. They may also be discolored or mottling spots again due to the acidity of the paper. The borders of the maps may also have small tears. On occasion maps may smell musty from the way they have been stored in the past. OWhen the map is kept in an open area the musty smell will fade away in time. Please be aware that these National Geographic Maps are anywhere from 20 to 80 years old. They are printed on paper that is not acid free and in most cases have not been stored in the best way. So the maps you are buying will be in a condition that reflects both of these facts. The map you get may be worn or lightly torn along the fold lines due to the acidity of the paper and being folded for years. They may also be discolored or mottling spots again due to the acidity of the paper. The borders of the maps may also have small tears. On occasion maps may smell musty from the way they have been stored in the past. OWhen the map is kept in an open area the musty smell will fade away in ... moretime. Please be aware that these National Geographic Maps are anywhere from 20 to 80 years old. They are printed on paper that is not acid free and in most cases have not been stored in the best way. So the maps you are buying will be in a condition that reflects both of these facts. The map you get may be worn or lightly torn along the fold lines due to the acidity of the paper and being folded for years. They may also be discolored or mottling spots again due to the acidity of the paper. The borders of the maps may also have small tears. It is not completely closed one of the creases. One of the interior edges has a crease& the creases show some. Very minor wear. I would still consider it to be in excellent shape for it's age. I never opened the 1969 map. It shuts perfectly flat& I see one tiny tear on an edge. I never opened the 1971-72 map. It also lies perfectly flat& I see 2 tiny tears on the back edge. Polyconic Projection Of Prince Georges County map circa 1950's or so. Undated but Hearne Brothers had a Detroit 76 address-before zipcodes. There is fading and water staining to the bottom of the map and a few tears. The retracting mechanism to roll it back up needs work and it is not mounted on it. Done by artist W allis E Howe in 1956 and issued byy the Preservation Society of Newport County. It features historical homes in Newport such as the Quaker Meeting house built in 1700. The Nicholas Wanton Hunter house circa 17 48. Two o f the corners and one edge is do g eared as you can see in the photos and the paper is slighly wavy. No folds or tears.
