Stunning antique solid silver box. Southeast Asia circa early 1900. The oval box is made of high quality silver and it is not silver plated. The lid has two levels with several bands of silver around the side. On top is a band of symmetrical design supporting a slightly smaller oval surface of floral design. Fantastic Chinese cloth hat made for a child. Circa late 1800s. The hand embroidered hand sewn black hat has six panels. The panels are hand embroidered with vivid coloured floral patterns. On the front and the side of the hat are decorated with solid silver ornaments. The sides has a round disc with a dangling fish and a dangling bell that has a ball inside so that it rings when the child moved. On the front are eight silver gods with eight round half discs underneath. The inside of the hat is also made of cloth and is hand stitched throughout. I have a collection of hat ornaments but this one is completed with the hat. Mostly people cut off the silver ornament and threw away the hat after the child out grew it. To have a complete one is quite rare. The hat was bought at the Yunan Province many years ago and it has influence of minority ... moregroup's costume. This is a solid silver hat ornament. Made in China circa end of 1800s. The hat ornament is made in the shape of the Happy Buddha. He is in a seated position with his big tummy sticking out. Even though the size of the ornament is very small there are a lot of details. The size of the ornament is small than an AA battery and yet you can see the minute details. Chinese children wore embroidered hats sewn with ornaments to ward off evil and bring good fortune. There are holes on the sides of the ornament for sewing. Great patina from many years of oxidation. The basket appears to be completely hand-woven with silver filaments& double-wired handle with 3D grapevine attached to both sides. Its original glass liner with lot of internal bubbles indicate a very old product is conformed to the interior shape of the basket. Fantastic hand painted Japanese Satsuma brooch set in solid silver. Circa 1880s. This brooch was actually a very rare Japanese porcelain belt buckle. It has a beautiful hand painting on the surface. The painting is of three farm houses by a stream. Lovely pine trees on the background. The frame is made of solid silver. The silver content is about 800 pure. The silver covers the entire back of the buckle. There is a Japanese solid silver stamp on the back of the buckle. The buckle has been converted into a brooch. This is a very rare antique Japanese piece. Porcelain buckles tend to get damaged easily because they were used. To find one in this good condition is very rare. The buckle is in perfect condition. Superb Rare Antique Chinese Solid Silver Paper Weight With Chinese Hallmark
Superb quality antique Chinese paper weight made of solid silver. Circa 1920s. Chinese solid silver hallmark. The fantastic weight is made of solid silver and is not silver plated. The weight is shaped as a screen panel. The top part has orchids and butterflies. The bottom part has a poem relating to the arrival of winter. The back of the weight has a Chinese silver stamp'zu yin' 足银 meaning solid silver. Scroll weights were just like paper weights but it served a particular purpose in Chinese literary tradition. Chinese scholars had rice paper scrolls which were very flimsy and in order to write on them the paper had to be weighted down on the corners. Sometime these scroll weights come in pairs or set of fours. This weight came from China in the 1920s.
