This very rare poster was distributed by Indanthrene Cloth Dye Co. also known as Yin Dan Shih Lin Rain or Shine Cloth Dye. The poster features a lady sitting by a window wearing a traditional Chinese costume. She is holding a rose branch. On top of the poster is Indanthrene's logo in Chinese. The size is 17 3/4 high x 11" wdest point x 9" deepest point. The condition is fair and has paint loss. flaking. Cracks, missing parts(arm) and small chips. The top from the waist up is movable. This I feel is original by the maker. Must be carefully and securely packed for shipping.So intersting it should be in a museum. Antique royalty qing dynasty carved serving tray vintage extremely rare
This serving tray has been in the family for generations. Now it is time for a new home. I have been told this tray was crafted in the 1700.S and was made for a royal family. In 1971 my mother was offered $6500.00 by a gallery in San Francisco and decided to keep it in the family as it was an heirloom. It has been in a sealed foot locker for the past 40 years. There are 3 smaller trays inside the largest tray which sits on a cross legged stand with dragons carved all along it-It is a masterpiece. This very rare poster features the Eight Immortals playing a game of mahjong. All eight of them are present. Li Tiegual. Sitting in front on the left, has just won a full house. The other immortals looked on with various expressions. An attendant with a plate of peaches and a stork nearby. Storks and peaches are longevity symbols in Taoist mythology. It is a rare horizontal poster. There are two metal rods and two cloth loops. The poster was distributed by the Shandong Tobacco Company based in Tsingtao. Northeast of China. One of the biggest tobacco companies in China in the 1930s. The poster was printed by stone printing or lithograph. The quality ... moreis excellent. Name of the artist. The printing company in Shanghai and the title of the poster are on the bottom in fine prints. You can see them clearly under a magnifying glass. There are some small damages on the edges. Part of the metal rods has separated from the poster. A stain on the back of the poster as shown in the photograph. Apart from that the poster is in excellent condition. The colours are still fresh. These posters were given away as decorations for homes. People pasted them on the wall and replace them every year. They were printed every new year in the early 1900s.
