Pleased to offer another household treasure. A large 8 panel Hand Embroidered Room Divider/ Dressing Screen. Each Panel is 19" Wide and 72 1/2" Tall. Can unfold to more than 12.5 feet. Wide enough that where it sits it took two pictures to get it all. Each panels embroidery work has it's own seperate picture. A close up of a panel 4 Flower was taken to show the fine detail of the embroidery. A Photo of the only found imperfection; a small dent on front right side of panel 8. About 3/8" and can be seen in last picture. This piece was purchased in the early sixties in Korea. We were told it was an antique then but I don't think it was. It was in too good condition. It features 5 CLAW DRAGONS chasing the FLAMING PEARL motif; Chinese peony flowers; fungi and other sacred symbols. Above the IMPERIAL MOTIFS of MOUNTAINS towering over the SEA. POOR CONDITION. The colour has run and there are 2 tears to the back of the panel. However, I would rather a collector buy it as is than see it cut up, although it may be the best way to preserve what is left of the wonderful hand work. Room Divider, Dressing/Privacy/Decorative Screen Hand Embroidered 8 Panel
This screen makes a wonderful backdrop or room divider. Each panel is so beautiful it could be taken apart and used as individual panels. Even framed. We purchased this in Japan many years ago and we were told it was from Korea and they were not sure how old at that time. The colors are wonderful and the subject matter makes a real artistic statement in any setting. The 8 panels are each 17 1/4 x 61 inches. It can unfold to over 11 feet or be adjusted to much less. The hand embroidered only portion of the panels are each 12 X 31 ins. The background for each embroidered panel is silk and the threads used are just beautiful colors. There is tear on back of one of the panels and a few indentions, see photos, the back affects only the back and does not show on the front. There are 3-4 spots on the lower portion of the front panels. The screen ... moreis signed and there is a story about each panel written on the back. The screen does come with a zippered cloth storage sleeve. This truly a gorgeous screen and one of this quality is not easy to find. We are not experts, but lovers of fine Asian items.
