This good antique Korean porcelain blue and white candle holder is made from a solid piece of porcelain. It is rather heavy in weight and has a ring of carved ribbed decoration around the top and bottom. There is bright under-glaze blue decoration around the top and intermittent around the sides. The condition is good however there is a spider hairline on the side and crackling to the glaze around the side and on the top. This is early Korean porcelain dating from the 17th to 18th century. This is a very nice piece of 19th C Chinese Export for someone. It is a very large tureen, with lid, hand painted with pagodas by the water, boats and hills. It has two Hare, or Rabbit, handles, to the ends and another mysterious handle to the lid. The lid is unglazed to the underside edge but glazed in the top. There are plenty of spots of kiln soot. As you would expect. The base is unglazed ... moreon the upper rim. There is a firing crack on the edge, shown in the pictures. There is some fritting to the outer edge but nothing to describe as a chip. Again, there is plenty of dirt and kiln soot in the glaze inside. Turn it over and the base is unglazed. It is bubbled and grubby and the bubbles extend into the glazed area. Under the bowl. The glaze is almost celadon, certainly blue tinged, on the base. This is a majestic piece. It weighs just over 2.8 kgs unpacked. It is16.5 cms high. With the lid on, 22 cms to the top of the finial. The lid is 28 x 21 cms. The base is 12 cms high. It is 29 x 21.5 cms across the top. The base is 22.5 x 16 cms. It is approx 34 cms across the handles. Condition is very good and it has been in the same family for a fair number of years. L ocal pick up. Stunning antique Chinese blue& white porcelain opium pipe. Export ware. Circa 1800s. The lovely pipe has silver mount on the mouth. The dipper is made of silver. The handle. The base and the pipe opening are also made of silver. Hand painted leaf design on one side and a dragonfly on the opposite side. There is no mark on the bottom. Antique Asian silver mostly has no hallmark. Asian silver has a much lower content than sterling. The pipe was made in China and exported to Southeast Asia. This pipe might have come from Vietnam or Cambodia. There is still a whiff of opium scent left. In excellent condition. No crack no chip. Height: 9 cm The battery is there for size comparison only. This was bought at source in the Far East in the mid 1990's, from a private collection of Thai Sukhothai and Ayuttayan pottery. Part of my Asian based collections. Traditional rounded stint for pottery of the Si Satanalai regions The item is in fine reference order. Glaze crazing. Rough base glazed rim, worn body glaze, see pictures.Combined postage offered.
