We live near a Nun's Retirement home and from time to time are lucky enough to offer items for sale to you and this is one of those old antique treasures. This rosary is unusual and what it is called has escaped me.if you know. Please send me a message so I may add to description. It is made out of 12 sets of 3 beads with one between center medal and crucifix. This is just Gorgeous.workmanship from a time long ago.the center medal depicts Virgin Mary on the front and The Sacred Heart of Jesus on the reverse. The cross depicts St. Anthony and Baby Jesus and on the reverse St. Joseph and Baby Jesus.very rare and wonderful. It measures approx. 13 3/8" when laid out flat. The antique case measures approx. 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 1/2" The top has ... morepieces of Mother of Pearl in a puzzle like design and in the center is a cabachon of Mother Mary. It snaps shut correctly and the hinge is in fine working order. The patina on this treasure is wonderful.it could use a good cleaning.but. I will leave that up to the new owner. DESCRIPTION: Rare antique genuine carnelian and pomponne rosary. Circa 1830. I bought this rosary and some others who are in my shop at auction in a castle in the west of France. This rosary seems to be italian, it was offered to the Countess of LaRoche Macé by an officer who had just returned from Italy. It has 5 decade separated by a large caped bead. And small faceted pomponne or ormolu beads, it has only 56 beads, I suppose 3 beads are missing, but I am not sure because this type of rosary is unusual. The beads are strung on a cotton thread. The thread should be changed but I did not because it leaves the choice to put a clasp and wear it as a necklace, it would be beautiful. This is museum worthy. Almost 200 years old! I don't remember the name of it, but an old church was torn down in illinois, and just before the trash was to be removed from the property, a scavenger was allowed to pick through the debris, found and brought these to me. it was assumed that they belonged to the nuns as they were found on the side of the housing of the nuns. i have kept them all this time and it is now time to pass them and all their prayers on to the next caregiver. i had a neighbor help me see and describe them. As the stanhope are impossible for me to see. they are the stations of the Cross, Jesus falling with Cross. Passion of Christ. there are TWO stanhopes missing from this beautiful antique Rosary. i(we) see no other markings ... moreand the crystal beads are not cracked. this is a very rare Rosary. I can't explain how warm and Blessed this Rosary feels. it is very special. the second Rosary is wooden. there is writing on the back of the cross. And i do not know if the trim is silver or not. it is light weight and the Cross is very beautiful. the third Rosary is marked 1/20 12K gold at back of cross. And beads are glass and peeling. this rosary is also beautiful. the fourth Rosary is silver and crystal and marked. the beads are not cracked and the details are quite humbling. the last item is either a bracelet or chaplet and was not from that church. The medals feature the hallmark of the engraver Vachette– the same Parisian engraver who is responsible for designing and engraving the original Miraculous Medal in 1832! ATTENTION COLLECTORS: These are SO hard to find- especially in THIS condition! This 7 decade habit rosary has a hanging length of 43 inches and came from the estate of a Franciscan nun. The brown beads are made of wood or a seed pod and the sturdy chain parts are made of steel. Typical of very old Franciscan belt rosaries. There is no center medal and only simple hand-carving on the Our Father beads. The 1.5" tall brass medal depicts St. Anthony of Padua on one side and St. Francis of Assisi on the reverse. The writing is in French. The 4" tall crucifix has a brass frame inlaid with wood. Mostly likely walnut or ebony. This entire crucifix was hand-made and has original file marks on the brass frame. As further testimony of this rosary's age, this is a"four nail crucifix" meaning that the feet of Jesus are placed side-by-side ... moreinstead of on top of each other as seen on newer crucifixes. Most importantly. This rosary is in EXCELLENT condition. There is minor wear to the beads from prayer and veneration and some areas of the chain show surface rust. QUESTIONS? Rare antique 800 silver guilloche enamel genuine mother of pearl rosary
This auction is for one of the best rosaries I've ever had. Done in 800 silver with white enamel with genuine mother of pearl beads and all the fittings are in silver as well. It is in excellent condition although it could use polishing on the silver parts. But the enamel is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. It is marked on the back Roma. 800, and 284m in a cartouche if I am reading that correct, it is very tiny. But it does look like the nails going through Jesus' hands might be gold so possibly this is a gold mark. The crucifix is just over 1 1/2" The entire rosary when held up basically in half, is 21" with the beads coming down to the crucifix. The mother of pearl beads are beautiful as well. I photographed it on white and black backgrounds for your viewing pleasure. Thanks for looking.

RARE Rainbow Swirled Givre Czech Glass Antique Rosary MUST SEE PICS
Rare swirled rainbow givre Czech glass bead rosary signed Made in Choslov(older mark used for Czech) on the back of the cross. The center has the Virgin Mary on the front and Jesus carrying the cross on the back. Measures 17 3/4" including the cross. I'm not sure of the metals used for the center and cross but I believe the center is silver plated and the cross may be all silver but I can not confirm without testing which I will not do on a piece this old as not to disturb the original patina. As shown in the pics it is in really good antique condition but appears to be missing one bead(there are only 4 between the center& the cross) As always.
