Rare Chinese Concentric BONE 12 ball Puzzle ball & Monkeys
Here we are delighted to offer you a Very Rare Chinese Concentric Old 12 ball Puzzle ball with Three Monkeys holding up the puzzle ball. It is all hand carved from Ox bone and showing a Natural grain. I have spent a long time trying to count the number of balls inside the main outer ball i may just have counted them up wrong Lets say approx 12 balls inside the the outer ball as it is so delicate i did not want to damage any of them. I used a tooth pick to try and count them with great care as shown in one picture. Each ball is all hand carved. The main outside ball is all hand crarved with Roses and leaves it would have been carved by a Master craftsman that Hand carved this Magnificent Concentric puzzle ball and stand. The stand is again all hand carved with Three detailed Monkeys with there arms up holding the puzzle ball. The puzzle ball ... moreand stand are quite large as it stands 8 inches tall. The puzzle ball is a good size as it is 8.5 inches in cercumferance. I will pack it well in the sections as shown in a few pictures showing it unscrewed and all the carved threads are in very good condition. All the puzzle ball and ornate stand are in perfect condition and not restored as it was always kept under a glass dome. This is for a realy nice Chinese Puzzle ball chess set which is hand carved with great attention to detail. It is made of cow bone, This is from the late 19th century to the early 1900's. It is a complete set with no missing or broken parts. The 32 pieces are a nice size with 6" Kings and 4 1/4" Queens. This set is in great condition for it's age and these sets are getting hard to come by. There is a lot of hours going into creating this chess set especialy the puzzle balls that have carved inner balls. The case which is also a playing board is in good condition with padded panels and covers to protect the pieces. The case is 20"by 20" when opened and 10" by 20" when closed. There are 31 pieces. So only one is missing. This set is being sold"as found" There is one loose staff-like piece in the front-not sure which figurine it belongs to. Also, there are a couple of very tiny blemishes(chips) I only see 2. It looks like one or two of the pieces have been glued in where they twist in. On the mixed sizes, I see a range from 2-5 layers of puzzle balls. Overall, this set is really in great shape! Any blemishes mentioned would be seen when examined very close up.
