GENUINE ANTIQUE INDIAN BRONZE TEMPLE OIL BUTTER LAMP RARE W/ COVER
This is a fantastic piece. Its a Genuine Indian Antique Temple or Butter Oil Lamp, measuring 15cm tall 9cm wide and 12.5cm deep, the lamp is a rare piece and amazingly still retains it original cover, the piece is elaborately decorated with a Buddha to the reverse with scrolling tendrils etc surrounding, the reverse has the same decoration with what looks like a beetle to the base, the rare lid has scrolling patterns to it, as for condition, it is very dusty/grubby but I have decided to leave it well alone and let the buyer do what they like to it, there is a small hole to the front(pictured) there are 2 more holes(I think these may have always been there(again pictured) the lid has some splitting around the central flame hole this is also tricky to fit without making worse, but a good genuine piece. Antique Japanese Kamishimo Hina Doll Gofun porcelain head with glass inset eyes 13cm tall Meiji Period 1800s This style of doll is described in Daruma 26 Magazine(2 inserts shown) I currently have a copy of this for sale. This rare doll is a kamishimo hina doll. It has a gofun head with glass inset eyes. The head is made on a long wooden spike(longer than later period dolls) that is pushed in to a bundled straw body. It has human hair. Carved wooden hands and clothing made of paper and rough woven cloth. The base is wood. Kamishimo hina dolls from the 1800s are named after the formal dress of the samurai. With the divided skirt(hakama) and coarse sleeveless coat worn over a kimono. Extremely Rare Antique Chinese Advertising Poster For Texaco Oil Circa 1918
Extremely rare Chinese poster advertising American Texaco Petroleum In China. Circa 1918. The poster features a picture of a map showing Texaco products transported all over the globe. Two pictures of Texaco refineries underneath the globe. Texaco's various products featured in the centre. Descriptions for the four pictures listed on the bottom. It gives explanation for the production of Texaco Products. Locations of some of its refineries and its transportation to various ports in China. A Chinese calendar dated 1918 printed on the bottom of the poster with pictures of American Kerosene Products in the middle. The borders of the poster is designed with the Chinese symbols of longevity. The poster was printed in Hong Kong by the South China Morning Post. Texaco products were available widely in China in the early 1900s. The poster was ... moreprinted in stone printing or lithograph. The quality is excellent. There is a minor tear on the top right corner of the poster. There is almost no damage to other parts of the poster. The colour is great and as perfect as it was just printed 95 years old. The metal rods and the cloth loop are intact. There is a South China Morning Post identification printed in English and Chinese on the bottom of the poster. These posters were given away as decorations for homes. They were printed every new year in the 1900s. They were not items for keepsake so many didn't survive. Anything foreign especially American products were not welcome in China from the 1940s to nearly 1990s. The poster survived and in such an amazing condition is extremely hard to find. The corners are brass as well as the center partition supports. There is a decal on the side that is written in Chinese. Their is a tiny animal lion figure on the decal plate as well. The brand is Red Lion, which was very famously used around 1960, Wuhan city. Early 1920s Chinese poster advertising cigarettes. Very rare. The poster was produced by Meilee Tobacco Company. A wholly owned Chinese cigarette company. Its name appears on the top of the poster. The poster features two ladies in swimming costumes. The background is a traditional Chinese scene. Looks like they are swimming in the river by the houses. A typical scene near Shanghai. There are three packets of cigarettes on the bottom: The Yuhtoo brand. The Chaoyung brand and a Chinese brand Zhaochao with no English title. The brands are interesting as there are no English influence. The name Yuhtoo means The Rabbit in the Moon which came from a famous Chinese fairy tale. On the side are banners promoting the cigarettes. The banners translate as: Zhaochao was a Chinese beauty from the Han Dynasty. A very rare antique Chinese wood carved temple ornament. Circa early 1800s. This unique carving is a temple tablet. The top of the tablet is the head of a bat with its wings and legs spread out. Below that is a pearl. Two dragon heads are carved underneath the bat on the sides. Chinese names of various deities carved in the middle panel. The base has some floral design. The top is carved out of one piece of wood. It is then inserted in the base. Bats and dragons are auspicious symbols in Chinese mythology. You can see the carving is handmade from the telltale sign on the back. But the front is just so fantastic I doubt you can find another one similar nowadays. This tablet would have been placed on an altar table in the temple. It is shaped like a ancestral tablet but it is not. I have had this for 60 years.
