Hard to find words to fully describe the beauty of this very rare& stunning tea pot of the QING DYNASTY. A true work of art. It was"MADE DURING THE MONARCH OF EMPEROR KANGXI OF THE QING DYNASTY" The Kangxi Emperor reigned from 1662- 1722. So the tea pot is somewhere between 291-351 years old. Despite the antiquity of the exquisite tea pot. It remains in perfect condition. The glazing is untouched by the years, and the colours remain bright and clear. This antique Chinese o Taiwanese Pottery was acquired from a friends estate. He loved interesting and unique looking items. Like this pottery. We had this pottery reviewed by a professional Asian Art dealer. Who provide us with the period 1700's(18th Century) Unknown maker. The covered pottery was referred to a jeweled cover jar(if we recall correctly) It is ornately decorated with off white and green colors in a mixture of designs. It is about 7 1/2" tall. The top of the bowl is about 18" around. And it tappers down to about 13 1/2" at the base. The lid base is rounder since it sits over the bowl. Are you a serious collector of Chinese lacquer boxes? Take a look at this lovely Quing Dynasty black lacquer box. The Quing Dynasty spanned nearly 3 centuries from 1644-1912. It encompasses a tumultuous period in China's history with many wars like the Opium War. The Taiping Rebellion 1849-1860, the Muslim Uprising. The first Sino-Japanes War has taken place in 1895 and of course the famous"Boxer Rebellion" between 1898-1901 which resulted in foreign powers invading China. The last emperor abdicated on February 12th. 1912. The box's diameter is 140mm and the box is 70mm high. On the top there is a nature scene with a central figure which surrounded by small mother of pearl triangles facing inward. The mother of pearl is engraved and the lines are filled with black. Japan, Thailand etc. It was used to export goods by the VOC to Holland and this one was dug in Holland. It is in vg condition and measures 8 cm tall. 18TH OR 19TH CENTURY JAPANESE NETSUKE. IT IS JADE AND IN THE FORM OF THREE HANGING PUMPKINS/GOURDS WITH VINES AND LEAVES. THIS IS A VERY OLD PIECE AND COMES IN A BOX FROM AN ITALIAN JEWELLER OF THE EARLY 20TH CENTURY WHO WAS TRADING ON THE OLD BRIDGE IN FLORENCE. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN BROUGHT ON THE GRAND TOUR AND WOULD HAVE BEEN ANTIQUE AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. THE JADE IS VERY THICK AT OVER 1CM AND YET IS TRANSLUCENT. IT TAKE THE COLOUR OF THE BACKGROUND AND WHEN PLACED OVER YOU CAN DISTINGUISH COLOURS THROUGH IT, I HAVE SHOWN SOME PICTURES IN WHICH WHEN HELD TO THE LIGHT YOU CAN SEE MY FINGERS THROUGH IT, ALSO I HAVE SHOWN IT ON A BLACK BACKGROUND. IT IS WELL CARVED AND HAS THE TWO CENTRAL HOLES WHERE IT WOULD HAVE FIXED TO THE CORD. Up for auction is a probable late 18th century Paktong fancy serving dish. The individual basins are adorned with jade and cornelians. And the main dish is appointed with two different color cornelians. The main dish is approximately 15 and 1/2 inches wide by 6 and 1/2 inches tall. The interior large basin is 5 and 1/2 inches wide by 3 and 1/2 inches tall and the four small basins are 3 and 1/2 inches wide by 4 inches tall. Of the four interior small basins, 3 have an internal plate in addition to the lid, 1 is missing. The large interior basin has a pewter sculpted jade scarab, and the four smaller basin lids have jade and cornelians(see pics) This is by far the most intricately engraved Paktong piece I have ever seen, and the makers marks can be found on all lids, plate bottoms, and the main dish bottom as well. I am not an expert Asian ... moreantiquities, but based on the research I have done, this piece probably was made in the late 1700s to early 1800s. It was probably designed for someone of considerable means given all of the valuable stones and exquisite engraving throughout. A unique Chinese Antique timber food carrying box with Oxen yoke handle on the lid. Despite its age. It is in very good condition with just some chips to the edge on the bottom(Pics. 8/9) the timber has retained a very nice patina. It is reinforced with two bands of strong wire. The lid is held in place by the Oxen yoke handle which is connected to the pair of curved sections at each end. Measures 33 x 20cms with a depth of 14cms. The width from handle to handle is 39cms. small antique Chinese export covered pot for Thai Market 18th/19th century
Unusual enamel decoration on this little pot. Certainly oriental but the motifs do not look Chinese or Japanese- I have been told this is Chinese export ware for the Thai market, bencharong enamel 18th/ 19th century- one is a creature with a ladies front half and an animals back half, the other picture looks like a buddavista surrounded by flames. The pot is 4 inches tall to the top of the finial on the lid. the main body of the pot is in good condition, the lid has a large flat chip to the underside of the rim plus another couple of chips- all shown in the photos. If anyone has any information about the origins of this item I would be interested to hear.
