This is a large 1888 map of the United States. It measures 14 X 20 inches. It is quite detailed. Showing the topography, towns, transportation lines as they existed in 1888. This map is wax engraved and was issued as part of the Rand McNally Business Atlas. This map is genuine. Not a copy or reprint. It may have few minor handling flaws as to be expected in a map this age and large. This map shows its age as the paper has a light brownish hue in the margins along with a few light age spots. Beautiful example of an authentic 1907- 1912 46 star American Flag This is a large example and is approximately 6' high and 12' long. It was aquired about 40 years ago in Ohio. Sadly that is all I know about it. Very large flags were usually used on ships or government buildings I believe it is made of linen and all of the stars are sewn on both sides. Grommets appear to be brass Oklahoma became the 46th state to join the union with what was previously called the Indian Territories The flag is in generally good condition and is very clean. The edges are not torn and the colors are bright. It does have quite a few small holes caused by age and just general deterioration. I have included images of the types of holes you will find. If you found a flag of this age with no damage or deterioration. Printed more than 110 years ago. The image area measures 24.6 x 33 cm[9-3/4" x 13" And the map has wonderful detail throughout, including railroads, cities, towns, and natural features. Guthrie is identified as the the capital of Oklahoma Territory, and the capital of the Indian Territory is Tahlequah. The map labels numerous railroads. Including the Atchison, Topeka& Santa Fe; the St. Louis& San Francisco; the Castle Rock& Pacific; the St. Louis& Iron Mountain; and the Gulf, Colorado& Santa Fe. The map locates the Fort Supply Military Reservation in Woodward County. Originally established to support General Philip Sheridan's winter campaign ... moreagainst the Southern Plains Indians. Further more, all 1905 maps in the atlases are copyrighted 1904, so impossible to verify existence once removed from atlas. Rand McNally basically put together the 1905 atlas using the base maps from the 1904 atlas and only changed the listings of the railroads overprinted on the maps when necessary. Northwest Territories Native Indian Leather Vest
This beautiful hand made chaomis vest is one of a kind. My parents bought it on a trip down the MacKenzie River in Canada at least 40 years ago. I think it's either sex. Fits me fine men's medium large. The vest is lined with a pink tone soft fabric& is in excellent shape. The leather is very soft. Clean with nice quality work. The bead work is beautiful and in perfect shape. There are 10 different hand embroidered designs on the vest front& back. It has two leather closures on the front. Don't know what kind of leather but probably caribou. Don't know which tribe but purchased along the MacKenzie River on afreight boat trip my parents took. The leather fringe is also in perfect shape.

It is guaranteed authentic from an 1882 magazine and is not a later copy or reprint of any kind. The page size is 6 1/2" x 9 3/4" and the image size is 5" x 8" The condition is actually very good with fairly dark even age toning of the paper and minimal small spots of foxing or stains on the margin. There is a light stain in lower left corner well confined to the margin. The flipside of the page has text"The New North-West" but there is no show-thru. The paper is of good quality and not especially fragile-but with all paper items this old. This rare and interesting map published during the last year of the CIVIL WAR shows the States and Territories of the UNITED STATES individually hand water colored. A number of railroad routes are shown in the eastern half of the country while 4 proposed TRANSCONTINENTAL RAILROAD routes cross the West. The Northern Pacific, the Central Pacific, The Union Pacific, and the Southern Pacific. In addition other famous routes are marked including the PONY EXPRESS ROUTE, the SANTA FE TRAIL, and the 1843-44 exploration route of John C. Fremont. Many of the Western Territories were quite different from the States today. The map shows a HUGE DAKOTA TERRITORY which included all of NORTH and SOUTH DAKOTA and nearly all of modern WYOMING. 1848"Western Territories of the United States" by D. F. Robinson. Copyrighted 1847 and believed to be the second in this series published in 1848. Territories. States and areas shown in full or partial are: a greatly reduced Texas, Nebraska, Indian Ter. Iowa, Minnesota, California, Utah, New Mexico, and Oregon. Area covered includes Montana, Wyoming Oregon, Washington, Idaho, South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Utah, Nevada, California, New Mexico, Arizona and Oklahoma. Map size is about 11 by 17 inches and richly colored. Map in good shape. It does not have the usual staining along the fold. Stains are 1) black ink spots in Nebraska. 2) small water stain in Oregon taking out a little of Champooing and the area right above it, 3) stain at the neat line near the Oregon coast, 4) stains in New Mexico and Utah, 5) smudges ... morein Indian Ter. and 6) four weak pencil lines through southern Nebraska and into Indian Ter. one erased? Some color fading in Minnesota. The stains and pencil lines have little affect on the map except the one in Oregon. The map has been in a matted frame and in shrink wrap for over 30 years and I do not want to remove it unless it is sold. There are probably dirty or smudges along the edges of the sheet. The hand wash coloring is very good and the map is very clean for this map with the notations above. Colorado is part of Utah. New Mexico and Nebraska. Wyoming part of Nebraska, Utah and Oregon. An 1847 version of this map is also being offered with the tall Texas stovepipe at the same time. Map will be removed from the matting and rolled in thick Mylar plastic and placed in a tube/box for shipping with the seller paying for insurance and tracking. I never knew that North and South Dakota was once one territory! So interesting. Especially"Indian Territory" or as we know it today as Oklahoma! Looking at the Texas Pan Handle and seeing"Kioways and Comanches! Also looking at the Pan Handle of"Indian Territory" and seeing Cherokee Country! Dozens of Forts are marked just about everywhere! Canada is"British America" This is an historic area in the development of our nation from Little Big Horn to Pottawattmie.
