This antique egg crate is an interesting piece. It is in great shape for its vintage age; there is a knot in the wood on one of the slats. This crate has cardboard inserts to hold up to a dozen eggs. I was unsure how to get the lid off so I didn't try. It is a wonderful size to use for decorating purposes; it measures approximately 9.25" in width by 7.25" in depth and 4.0" in height without the handle. Please refer to the photos I have included. This is an original. Vintage, Dad's Old Fashioned Root Beer wooden soda crate with carved-in handles made by the Flour City Wooden Box, Inc. company out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dad's Old Fashioned Root Beer is an American root beer created in 1937 in Chicago. The crate is stamped in bright vivid colors. Dad's Old Fashioned Root Beer" on the longer sides. On the handle sides it is stamped, Full Quart'Mama' Size" as well as, Dad's Root Beer Bottling Co. Yankton S. D. Inside it's stamped"Sturdy Bilt" and it is. This is box still has the wooden insert that separated the old glass bottles. Most old crates have lost these inserts. Also. One side is stained by root beer from a bottle that spilled its contents, yet the advertising is still clear and sharp. It gives the box some character. Except ... morefor the stain, this wooden soda crate looks like it just came out of the Flour City Wood Box, Inc. assembly line. I've sold of few of these crates and it's by far the best one in terms of its condition. The dimensions of the crate are: 18" L x 13" W x 11" H. It weighs 10 lbs. A great advertising piece! This wooden crate has metal strap bands on the ends. The box has the Ivory name on the ends and the Proctor Gamble Logo on the front. The lid is hinged with metal hinges. It is about 8.75" wide by 6" tall by 6" deep. I've seen these in other sizes but this is the first I've seen in this size. It is in good used condition with some signs of age and use. I am putting up for sale this vintage 1/3 Barrel(meant to hold 33 pounds of cranberries) Wooden Cranberry Box/ Crate with the name OCEAN SPRAY printed on each end of the box in black ink or paint. Has the year printed 72 on it as can be seen in the pictures. The open slats on the sides& bottom's purpose was to keep them vented to avoid rotting during storage. These types of boxes were used to hold 1/3 of a barrel(33 pounds) of freshly picked cranberries during harvest season back in the day and were not used for shipping. This same size and type of box is still used to this day although some people perfer to use burlap bags when dry picking their cranberries because it's less labor intensive. This is a vintage wooden fruit crate from the Stadelman Fruit Company of Yakima. Washington. Its dimensions are 19 1/4" x 12" x 9" Weight is 5 pounds before wrapping. Charging postage at the 5 pound rate and I'll pay the difference. It will probably ship in the 7 pound range due to boxing and packing materials. Non-smoking/cat-free home. Very nice condition Atlas Powder company giant gelatin 50lbs high explosive wooden crate. This piece still has half of the top attached. The crate is in good structural condition. Has some cracks in the wood but nothing that makes it look bad or weaken it structurally. Very nice piece as a collectible, decorative, or photography prop.
