Measures approx 5 1/2" wide x 8 1/2" tall x 3/16" thick Plaque is thin metal which covers a composite type backing and is wrapped around the sides. Metal is appears to be brass. Due to the steel rod and weight of it I believe it may have been from one of the churches or convents that have sadly been closed in the area. He does have a slight chip in his crown of thorns and a few scrathes in the paint but that should be expected for something of this age. 12" diameter.

Saint Anthony vintage ceramic wall plaque rare
Up for auction is a beautiful and rare vintage Saint Anthony full color ceramic wall plaque. This pretty item is vintage but in fantastic condition and measures 7 1/2" tall x 5" wide and has a great image of Saint Anthony holding Jesus in vibrant color. Born 22 December 1818, he was baptized with the name of John, the son of Bartholomäus Birndorfer and Gertrude Niedermayer, and was born on the family farm in Bad Griesbach, now a part of the town of Parzham, then in the Kingdom of Bavaria, now part of Germany. He was the ninth son in a peasant family. From his earliest years, the young Hansel(a diminutive of John) gave indications of his future sancity by his modesty and love of solitude. His devotion was noticeable especially when he prayed in church, the distant location of which was no hindrance to his visiting ... moreit frequently even in inclement weather. He had a great devotion to the Blessed Virgin, and each day fervently recited the Rosary. On feast days he frequently made a journey to some remote shrine of the Blessed Mother. During such pilgrimages, always made on foot, he was engaged in prayer, and when he returned in the evening, he was usually still fasting. John spent his early years on the family farm, losing his mother when he was 14. At the age of 31, after his father's death, he decided to leave the secular world. These beautiful silver plated plaques date to circa 1924. The plaques portray Jesus and the Virgin Mary and the work is repousse style. A roundel top can be seen around the head of both Jesus and Mary. The sacred heart is depicted on the plaque of Jesus and the Virgin Mary plaque is decorated with symbolic lilies at the base. The Jesus plaque measures 6 3/4 long and 4 3/4 across. It weighs 319 grams. The Virgin Mary plaque measures 6 inches long and 4 inches across and it weighs 306 grams. These plaques are very old and do have minor signs of age. The plaques can be placed on stands or mounted on a wall.

At the age of 18 he went to Cologne as a shoemaker’s assistant. He was shocked by the living conditions of most people living there, which influenced his decision to become a priest. Vintage Sweet Heart of Mary Plaque This beautiful plaque of Mary is rare. Mary is enclosed in a decorative arch with"Sweet Heart of Mary be my Salvation" embossed on the bottom. I cannot tell what material it is made of. Appears to be a wood look composite. Pre-owned; In great condition for it's age with a few minor flaws due to age- small chips on the bottom corners on the back of the plaque. I noticed 3 small cracks. 2 appear to be during manufacturing- they do not go all the way through the plaque. A little wear to the finish just adds to it's charm.Some flaking of paint on the back. Vintage Saint George religious plaque. Rare & unusual with Greek lettering
Up for bids is a beautiful rare antique christian religious plaque of Saint George battling the serpent/ dragon. Looks like a gilded relief prayer card. It was purchased at an antique store in Greece. It has Greek lettering imprinted. It is about 5" x 7" by 1" deep and heavy. It appears silver in colour but the metal is unknown. There are artisan imperfections. Patina on the metal, but overall a very impressive piece. The back of the plaque appears at one time to have had a velvet-like paper glued on which has fallen off.
