Lovely wall plaque of St. Francis of Assisi. Mounted on solid wood with metal ring for hanging. Do not know what the center picture material is but it has a textured finish. Feels like a stone. The finish creates a slight glare in the pictures from the flash. A white satin edging is around the center oval. At base of the oval the edging has a tiny area that is frayed. I am selling these 3 vintage copper items. Two of them are copper ash trays. One is labeled"Peerless Companies Dayton. Ohio Fulton 2166" and the other is labeled"Grand Canyon Arizona" The Grand Canyon tray has a glass dome insert in it's base covering a scene that depicts a person standing and viewing the Grand Canyon. The third item is an outstanding copper plaque of a rendering of St. Anthony& Jesus. They are all structurally sound and intact. The Peerless tray is 5 3/8 inches wide. The Grand Canyon tray is 5 3/16 inches wide. The rendering of St. Anthony and Jesus is 5 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches wide. A bit of something for everyone in this batch.

Gisela was a daughter of Henry II, Duke of Bavaria and Gisela of Burgundy. Gisela was raised very devout, most likely by bishop Wolfgang of Regensburg as her mentor and governor. It is written that as the musicians played at her wedding she"sang in her heart to the Lord" Her feast day is celebrated in theRoman catholic. Anglican, Eastern Orthodox, and Eastern Catholic Churches on November 22. She is one of seven women, excluding the Blessed Virgin, commemorated by name in the Canon oft he mass. Cecilia is one of the most famous of the Roman martyrs, even if the familiar stories about her are apparently not founded on authentic material. According to Kirsch, while it is a pious romance, like so many others compiled ... morein the fifth and sixth century, the existence of the martyrs, however, is a historical fact. The relation between St. Cecilia and Valerianus, Tiburtius, and Maximus, mentioned in the Acts, has perhaps some historical foundation. Her feast has been celebrated since about the fourth century. It was long supposed that she was a noble lady of Rome who. With her husband Valerian, his brother Tiburtius, and a Roman soldier Maximus, suffered martyrdom in about 230, under the Emperor Alexander Severus.
