An interesting vintage map showing a detailed view of the Gran Sasso D'Italia region in central Italy. The map is in excellent condition and was published in 1903 by Anstalt von Wagner and Debes of Leipzig. Germany. It is on a scale of 1:150.000 and shows the main geographic features, rivers, mountain peaks, and valleys, the major roads, towns and villages, and more. The town of Fano is at the top end of the map, and the town of Paganica is at the lower end. There is a small inset map of the city of Aquila Gran Sasso d'Italia is a mountain located in the Abruzzo region of central Italy. The Gran Sasso forms the centrepiece of the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park which was established in 1993 and holds the highest mountains in continental Italy south of the Alps and is part of the Apennines. The mountain range that runs ... morethe entire length of the Italian Peninsula. Teramo and L'Aquila are the nearest cities to the Gran Sasso, while Assergi, at the base of the mountain, is the nearest village; Rome is 132 kilometres(82 mi) by road. The three main summits of the Gran Sasso are Corno Grande(shown here) Which at 2,912 metres is the highest peak in the Apennines, nearby Corno Piccolo and Pizzo Intermesoli, which is separated from the other two peaks by Val Maone, a deep valley. Corno Grande and Corno Piccolo's ash coloration come from their limestone and dolomite composition. The peaks are snow-covered for much of the year though the snow cover appears to be less each decade. Large wall/table map from 1947 of Greece. Crete, Turkey, and the Aegean Sea. The map is in great condition for its age, but has minor stains and tears as can be expected. The edges are smooth and straight with only one tear on an outside edge, about two inches deep along a crease. There are two other small tears along creases on the interior of the map. The map features printed compasses and directional arrows in addition to strategic marks handwritten on the map(as shown in photographs) The map has a vintage. Unique feel to it. I can see it framed on a wall. The map is large, approximately 42"x32" This is a very interesting piece and great for any map or historic collector. As you can see there is age-related discoloration around the edges of the map. But it is otherwise in very good condition. The colors are good, and there are no tears.
