Antique Chinese or Japanese Hand Painted Porcelain Ceramic Tile Painting
Tile is approx. 4 5/8(four and 5 eights) x 4 5/8 x 3/8 inch thick. And weighs 11 oz. As you can see in the pictures. The edges are slightly slanted In the picture showing the back of the tile you see brown spots. At first glance one may think that these are adhesive residue and that the tile was glued onto something at one time. At close examination. These spots appear to have been made at the time the tile was made. These spots appear to be fine sand particles which are now permanently fused to the tile. The tile glazing appears to stop at the outline of each of these spots. In the pictures you see that the upper corners are broken off. There is a very shallow chip along the upper edge. In the shape of a 1/8 inch radius semicircle located about 1 1/2 inch from the left corner. On the bottom edge there is a tiny chip 3/4 inch from the right ... morecorner, I felt when running my nail along the tile edge. It is about 1/16 of an inch, and so shallow that I felt it because the glazing is missing on that spot. Along the left edge, in a few tiny areas the glazing is dull. At the bottom left corner there is a spot of about 1/16 radius where the glazing is dull. The metal stand seen in the pictures is not included to avoid possible damage to the tile in transit. Viewing is welcome before bidding. This one shows a superb scene showing boats on the water with a large mountain in the distance. It bears some character marks- possibly a signature? It could be a very rare piece so any info is greatly appreciated. The frame measures 496m x 35.5cm. The print measures approx. 30cm x 20cm. Exquisite Antique Signed Chinese or Japanese Scroll Painting? Polychrome Nihonga
Exquisite Very Fine and Antique Chinese or Japanese Painting. Exact age is unknown; could be anywhere from 100- 250+ years old. Measures 23 inches tall top to bottom and just slightly less than 14 inches wide. It has a fine decorative cloth border on the top and bottom as shown which is likely silk; amber. Gold, and brown in color with flower decorations as shown. The top border is 1 3/4 inches wide and the bottom is 1 inch wide. It is mounted onto a more modern wood board as shown. It is Signed with a Seal or Chop mark along the lower right side as shown. Painting is of an expressive bird with a white head and darker body perched in what is likely a Japanese plum or loquat tree with berries; though could also be Chinese. I have tried to do research on this piece along with some help from experts though have not come up with a definitive ... moredefinition or description. If anyone can more specifically add to the description I will change or edit the listing. There may be a couple different possible descriptions. One being an ancient or antique Polychrome Nihonga piece using Gofun technique of powdered natural materials. As the head of the bird and white parts may be produced from such a technique. Has some lack of'outlines' in the painting technique. On washi/ rice paper. Another possibility that I got from an on-line expert is to attribute the piece to the late Chinese painter Rong Sushi who was a disciple of Gao Qifend(1889-1933) and a member of the Lingnan School. The Seal may be read as'Soseki' to gargle with rocks" as a reference to'living in seclusion and roughing it' to rinse ones mouth out with the beauty of rocks and pillow ones head on the murmer of streams" Either way; it is an Original. Signed, beautiful, charming, antique piece of Asian; Chinese or Japanese Art. Has nice colors of white, blacks, browns, amber, greens, yellows. It is finely painted and drawn which the scene shows numerous figures wearing traditional dress in a street before town market. Surface is dirty and would benefit from a cleaning. This is a Large piece of art that weighs with the frame 4.8 pounds and measures 18 and 1/8" wide by 22 and 1/2" tall by 5/8" thick. The art by itself measures 11 and 5/8" wide by 16 and 1/8" tall. This art is in good condition with no rips, tears, or repairs present. I am unsure of exactly what type of artwork this is. It appears to be a painting on some type of board however I am unsure if this is a painting on paper that was then applied to a board. I am just unsure. Fantastic Antique Chinese or Japanese Scroll Ink Brush Painting Calligraphy
I am listing a couple of things I have had for a long time that I have been unable to identify. This is a wonderful scroll-I sure wish I knew who it was by! I bought it a long time ago from an elderly couple-they had bought it at an estate sale but did not know anything about it. Its about 7 feet long-a beautiful piece! There is some slight damage on the bottom and slight staining on the back as pictured but otherwise it is in excellent condition-thank you for looking!

Vintage Chinese Japanese 4 Panel Silk Painting Folding Screen Trumpet Flowers
Welcome! Presenting a vintage Chinese or Japanese 4 panel folding screen painting on silk featuring trumpet flowers(like petunias or morning glory type flowers) in mauve and turquoise with green leaves and smaller accent flowers in pink and peach color. It measures 48 inches wide and 24 inches long. It is signed on the mid-lower right in characters with a red seal or chop underneath and there is another red seal on the lower left. The frame is a dark brown or black lacquered wood with brass metal fittings and studs decorating the edges. There are two metal"eyes" on the back. One at each upper end corner, for hanging. PLEASE NOTE: This painting is offered AS-IS. The panels are hinged together by means of silk and paper. Some of which has parted and needs re-glued or re-attached. The silk fabric ground does in fact have a free-form ... morewash of beige on cream, but there are also scattered light spots of foxing and one 1/4" pierced spot in the silk on the middle of the third panel from the left. I am unfortunately unable to discern if this is a Chinese or Japanese painting. I presume, based upon the style, that it is Japanese. The lower left hand corner displays the signature and seal of an unidentified artist. The painting is mounted on a raw silk damask covered backing paper. With beautiful silk damask trim that features a rustic lotus meander. Both fabrics appear to be hand-woven. I am unfortunately unable to discern if this is a Chinese or Japanese painting. I presume(based upon the style) that it is Chinese. However. It may actually be a Japanese or painting illustrating a traditional Chinese tale or theme. Should any of you helpful eBay-ers out there be able to enlighten me, I would be most appreciative! The upper right hand corner features a lengthy calligraphic inscription, along with the signature seal of an unidentified artist. There are two additional artist's or collectors seals along the left hand side as well. The scroll measures approximately 71" high by 21 1/2" in diameter; the central painted imagemeasures 51 1/4" high by 16 1/4 wide. The scroll painting is in overall very good condition for a scroll of such age. With the only flaws being some gentle wrinkling, a small( 1 cm) tear to the paper, a teeny(3 mm) puncture to one edge, several faint dots of foxing, and some mild ravelling to the edges

I am uncertain whether the painting is Chinese or Japanese in origin. Based upon the style. I would guess it to be Chinese. However, it could be a Japanese or Korean painting illustrating a Chinese theme. The scroll painting measures approximately 83" high by 33 1/8" in diameter; the painted image itself measures 55 3/8" high by 26 3/4" wide. The painting itself is in overall good to extremely good condition. With the only flaws being numerous creases and wrinkles to the paper. The silk damask mounting is in fair to good condition, with several noticeable flaws including somewhat tattered to and bottom edges and some light/ moderate wear and smudging to the side edges. There are several artist's signature and collector's seals scattered throughout the painting. The scroll's rollers, if it ever had any, are no longer extant. Ink and color on paper. Mounted. But not laid down, on silk and framed as shown. No writing on the back of the piece. This landscape depicts a peaceful shoreline scene with trees. Pagodas over the water with people in them, lily pads in the water and a steep shore in the background. The work was executed using a brush and black ink, but contains some subtle greens, blues and reds as well. To the left side in the sky-water area is a long inscription in Chinese ... morestyle calligraphy as well as a red stamped seal. Possibly the signature of the artist. The half-round. Fan-shaped painting is lightly mounted on thin brown paper and then spot glued Shui moby the backing paper onto the eggshell-ivory colored silk background. The whole is framed in a plain Asian wood frame. AGE: Exact age unknown. At least 19th century. But possibly earlier(17th- 18th century? CONDITION: Good condition for it's age. As shown in the photos and with the following noted: Several small holes(upper center) several repaired tears, some spotting(left side) and light scuffing to surface in several areas. VTG CHINESE JAPANESE Ink Woodblock Watercolor Art Picture Painting Fruit Veg Sig
This is a vintage signed ink Asian(Chinese or Japanese) picture of fruit& vegetables. It is in it's original frame and silk matting. There is a small tear on the right side of the matting. And a fray area at the top left, see the pictures. On the picture you can see what looks like a crack? on the surface right by the squash/cucumber and a small run in the ink from when it was made. The wood frame is in a deep red wood and has some dirt build up from over the years. I have done nothing to this so I did not damage it. It has the original hangers 2 of on the back. I think you could re-frame this if you wanted to, I like it the way it is. It is in overall good to very good condition and just needs a little TLC to bring it back to excellent. It measures 16 1/2" by 12 7/8" the picture itself is 10 3/8" by 8 1/8" Please ... moresee all of the pictures they say more than I can with words. They are part of my description!
