The Image measures 52 1/2 inches X 23 1/2 inches and overall with frame 61 1/2 inches by 31 3/4 inches, not inspected out of frame. With an area of staining to the figure's foot, approx. 3 in. long and some creasing as seen in the images. From an old NYC collection. Weighs 40 pounds. Fine antique Chinese painting(probably gouache) on pith paper. Likely made for export. This detailed piece shows two women, one holding a book and the other perhaps tutoring her. There is a small red table decorated with vases in the background. The figures are well defined and stand out crisply from the unadorned background. This piece is probably from the 19th century, but may be early 20th century. The painting has been displayed in a simple wooden frame. Overall. This piece is in fair to good condition, but has not been examined outside of the frame. As you can see from the pictures, there is either a large crease or tear through the center of the piece, but it does not touch the painted areas. Depicting a dignitary in a Royal blue silk robe, wearing a black and red cap with a peacock feather to the back. The detail to the front of the robe and trousers is exquisite heightened with green and white. It is presented in a green and gold gilt frame. And glazed. For auction we have this lovely 19th century Chinese watercolor painting on rice or pith paper. The painting depicts an emperor with a kneeling attendant. The painting is in good condition with only a couple of small spots of foxing and a small loss to the paper at the bottom edge however this does not affect the painting. The painting is framed under glass and measures 6 inches by 4 inches. All items are as described. The majority of my items are antique.
