LARGE ANTIQUE STERLING SILVER QUAICH VICTORIAN 1897 ANTIQUE 7 INCHES
A beautifully design large Victorian sterling silver and cut glass quaich. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1897 with the makers marks being A&JZ for A& J Zimmerman. For those unaware a quaich is a traditional drinking vessel filled with whisky(or other beverages) and passed around guests at gatherings. It has been beautifully designed having a circular beautifully cut glass crystal bowl with silver rim and silver cast handles. It is in superb condition the silver being free from dings splits and repairs and the glass being free from chips cracks and repairs. It is a good sized example measuring a touch over 7 inches(18cms) wide including the handles by 2 inches(5.5cms) tall and weighs 247 grams. A beautiful well-made unusual piece. Vintage Japanese Woven Bamboo wooden box 10 inches x 7 inches 6 inches high.
For auction a vintage box of woven bamboo wood. That I believe was made in Japan, as I've seen some boxes that are said to be Japanese that have the same latch. The box measures 10" x 7" and is 6" high. Note the box in not lined. The bamboo has a nice patina with no damage to the weaving. it is put together with nails as shown in the photos, and the hinges and latch have straight screw heads. The box does not set level on a table as the weaving has twisting the box so one corner is higher than the other side. The inside of the box has a dark stain, the outside is natural.
